Quantity Surveyor


SEH Ipswich is a well-established, medium-sized civil engineering & groundworks contractor based in Ipswich. We’re looking for a versatile and proactive individual to join our growing team in a role that blends commercial awareness with practical site experience.

About the Role


Working closely with our Contract Managers and site teams, you’ll be involved in the day-to-day commercial and operational management of a range of groundworks projects. You’ll support everything from cost planning and material procurement to progress monitoring and client communication, helping ensure smooth project delivery.


Key Responsibilities


•    Assist in the preparation of tenders, take-offs, and estimates for new projects.
•    Prepare and submit applications for payment and help manage project valuations.
•    Assess and agree variations and changes during construction.
•    Procure and order materials in line with tight site schedules.
•    Set and monitor targets for site teams, supporting efficient project delivery.
•    Work collaboratively with Contract Managers, engineers, and clients to solve problems keep projects on track.
•    Support with cost forecasting, budgeting, and reporting as required.


About You


•    Experience in groundworks or civil engineering.
•    A background in quantity surveying or estimating
•    A flexible, hands-on approach and a willingness to get involved in all aspects of project delivery.
•    Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
•    Strong attention to detail and an ability to prioritise across multiple projects.
•    Experience in the housing or residential sector would be an advantage.
