We offer a four-year programme that provides you with the building blocks and entry route into engineering. During the scheme, you’ll begin with the foundation principles and knowledge of engineering whilst mastering your handskills before moving through into your specialist area of either Mechanical, Electrical or Control and Instrumentation. At the end of the scheme, you will have the knowledge, skill, behaviours and experience to work at one of our power stations around the EDF Fleet. 


Where you’ll work: 

 

  • Your first two years are based at the National College for Nuclear. Training is delivered through Bridgwater & Taunton College and will be a mixture of classroom and workshop sessions. Accommodation and meal costs will be covered in your first two years if you do not live locally to Bridgwater
  • Your final two years are based at your EDF location


What you’ll need to apply: 

 

  • Five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or Grade 4 and above in the new GCSE grading structure), National 5 or equivalent, including Maths, English and two Science or technical subjects
  • A talent and passion for practical subjects and activities
  • The ability to work independently and in teams, and can balance the responsibilities between study and work
  • The desire to learn and develop your skills, with a particular focus on hand skills and practical skills
  • Willingness to relocate as required


Qualifications you’ll gain on completion of your Apprenticeship:

 

  • Level 3 Maintenance & Operations Engineering Technician Apprenticeship
  • EAL Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (QCF)
  • Pearson BTEC Level 3 National Diploma in Engineering
