EDF Hinkley Support Operative (HSO) Bronze
Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years. Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes, create thousands of jobs, and bring lasting benefits to the UK economy. Construction and operation of Hinkley Point C will create 25,000 employment opportunities and up to 1,000 apprenticeships.
The introduction of the Hinkley Point Support Operative Bronze training programme is as a result of EDF’s commitment to maximise opportunities to bring in new entrants and apprentices, develop their skills and replenish the UK Engineering Construction skills base.
Why HSO Bronze?
The Hinkley Support Operative Bronze training programme is for those interested in working at HPC in support roles. The programme is also designed to create potential opportunity for future skills and career development through a craft apprenticeship and recognised training routes whilst working on the project or within the wider industry. During 2022, there will initially be a small number of job opportunities with the MEH Alliance (MEHA) for people who successfully complete the HSO Bronze programme (subject to workforce demand) in roles such as General Operatives, Scaffold Labourer, Coatings Labourer and General Storesperson.
On completion of this HPC recognised ‘pre-employment’ training programme (HSO Bronze), The MEHA will guarantee you an interview for a potential job opportunity at HPC. Once employed in a support role at HPC, you will develop basic skills and develop your understanding of working on such a large and unique construction site. After gaining a minimum of 8-10 weeks’ experience and have demonstrated the ability to progress, you will have the opportunity to apply for bespoke engineering construction training programmes that will further develop your understanding of the project and prepare you to apply for available craft Apprenticeships
Other job roles with mechanical, civil or site operations contractors are available on the HPC Jobs Service now. Applications from individuals successfully completing the HSO Bronze training programme with skills, knowledge and experience that matches other roles, will be highlighted by the HPC Jobs Service to employers and recruiting managers.
