The Civil Works Alliance (CWA) is embarking on one of the UK's most ambitious infrastructure projects-supporting the construction of Sizewell C. This new 3.2-gigawatt power station will generate low-carbon electricity for around six million homes, securing reliable, clean energy for generations to come.


We are seeking an experienced Occupational Health and Hygiene Lead to shape and deliver our strategy, ensuring operational excellence and the highest standards of health and safety across our teams and contractors.

 
In this pivotal role, you will:


• Develop, communicate and implement the CWA's occupational health and hygiene strategy, working collaboratively with operational teams and contractors.
• Provide specialist advice across a wide range of work activities, embedding health by design principles into our project.
• Lead and contribute to health risk-focused campaigns and enable delivery of training-both in-house and through external providers.
• Support the development and continuous improvement of occupational health and hygiene procedures, keeping pace with evolving legislation and industry standards.
• Identify, rank and address occupational health and hygiene risks associated with our diverse activities.
• Provide expert guidance on investigations involving health risks and establish robust monitoring and assurance programmes.
• Prepare fact-driven reports from health and hygiene data, audits and investigations, ensuring lessons learned are shared and adopted project-wide.
• Champion a positive occupational health and hygiene agenda, supporting the implementation of the Nuclear Safety message across the CWA team.


To be successful, you will bring:


• An Occupational Health and Hygiene Degree or Diploma, or Certificate of Operational Competence (BOHS), or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience leading occupational health and hygiene in major UK projects, ideally within highly regulated environments.
• In-depth knowledge of the UK Health & Safety Regulatory framework and legislation.
• Proven ability to lead, build and support high-performing teams, integrating with clients, contractors and partner organisations.
• Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage at all levels.
• A collaborative, proactive approach and a keen attention to detail and quality.
• CSCS MaPs competence.
