Opportunity for a Export Control Liaison Officer (Sizewell C) working with Venesky Brown on the Sizewell C Project,
The Transverse Technical team is responsible for the management of SZC's key technical risks, identifying and managing the implementation of opportunities and overseeing issue resolution. It also manages cross-cutting topics such as Intellectual Property (IP), Export Controls (EC) and Requirements Management (RM). Drawing upon expertise from across the SZC project, the EPR fleet and SZC's strategic technical partners; the TT team serves as a catch-all resource for coordinating and supporting the resolution of large-scale and cross-programme issues. Acting as a "Strategic Response Team", it supports the strategic-level delivery of engineering management activities with a focus on managing strategic risks and opportunities to ensure proactive and consistent resolution in support of the SZC programme.
The newly established Export Control & Sanctions Team in Nuclear Services consists of senior subject matter experts who oversee governance and provide support to all EDF licensees. They are also responsible for defining the high-level requirements that each business must follow to maintain compliance.
The Export Control Liaison Officer, a new role within the SZC Technical Directorate, will play a crucial part in managing the interface between the Export Control & Sanctions Team and SZC. This position involves translating and implementing high-level compliance requirements across the SZC business and ensuring the necessary processes are in place.
The role holder will engage with senior stakeholders throughout the business to influence change and promote best practices in a cohesive and proactive manner.
Main Duties:
- Focus critically on implementing and delivering Export Control compliance requirements within SZC, working closely with the Export Control & Sanctions Team and senior stakeholders.
- Drive the change programme to achieve key outcomes identified in the SZC Export Control Implementation Plan.
- Lead an Export Control Working Group to coordinate and deliver business improvement activities through focused working groups comprising stakeholders from across the business.
- Ensure compliance with existing licenses by leveraging strong knowledge of relevant UK and US laws, regulations, end-use, and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Offer options and solutions for the ongoing implementation and management of Export Controls and SZC compliance and document these in the appropriate format.
- Serve as the primary point of contact to provide initial advice and judgment in response to requests from the business for export control support, and be responsible for signposting and initiating next steps.
- Manage the implementation of Export Control (EC) requirements at SZC, including training roll-out, communication, and compliance
Knowledge & Skills Requirement:
- Experience within the nuclear industry and/or UK regulatory environment.
- Export Control & Sanctions knowledge and experience and willingness to become a subject matter intermediate expert.
- Able to work independently and prioritise own workload.
- Confident, proactive and determined.
- Experience of building relationships and excellent stakeholder engagement.
- Good presentation and facilitation skills.
- Good communication skills with an ability to communicate and convey information simply at all levels.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essential:
- Degree qualified with a minimum of 5 years' work experience.
- Understanding of Nuclear technology
Desirable:
- Export Control & Sanctions Training
- Project Management Training
- Experience establishing and leading projects
- Formal training to delivery operational business processes and / or significant practical experience.
