I am excited to present an opportunity for an Estimator to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) team. As part of our mission, we are dedicated to building Sizewell C, a groundbreaking 3.2-gigawatt power station that will provide low-carbon electricity to approximately 6 million homes. This project is critical to the future of our energy supply and will deliver reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years.
Position: Estimator
Location: London - St Martins Court/Remote working
Line Manager: Lead Estimator
Function: TOC - Estimating
In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Estimator and the Head of Estimating to maintain consistency in our estimating approach. Your contributions will include producing detailed estimating documentation, mentoring junior team members, and managing key stakeholders to develop accurate estimates for the project.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing accurate costing sheets for materials, labour, and equipment based on SZC's drawings and specifications.
- Evaluating design options and proposing value solutions.
- Supporting the team by mentoring and guiding junior members.
- Identifying and recording assumptions, risks, and opportunities from a budgetary perspective.
- Collaborating with project teams and the supply chain to refine methodologies.
- Developing labour, plant material, and subcontract pricing using the Alliance's Estimating Software Candy.
- Creating and verifying bills of quantities using Cost X software.
- Supporting the tracking of changes to estimates and budgets as project inputs evolve.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proficiency in Excel and similar software.
- Excellent client-facing and communication skills.
- Background in infrastructure main contracting within the civil engineering market.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience with Candy Estimating Software and RIB Cost X Quantification & Estimating Software.
- Familiarity with AACE principles of Estimating Class and associated maturity.
- Chartered status from recognized industry bodies (e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB).
