Opportunity for a Earthworks Preconstruction Manager (Sizewell C) working with Balfour Beatty on the Sizewell C Project,
Main Duties:
- Define the preconstruction work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme,
- Developing and executing effective strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP),
- Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders to execute the project,
- Develop and manage the preconstruction List of Deliverables (LOD) and activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time and budget, to meet business needs and technical requirements,
- Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters,
- Anticipate, manage and resolve issues within the contact or package - pre-delivery.
- Coordinate with Risk Leads to identify risks and opportunities and facilitate the resolution of issues raised, develop and update the programme budget, and escalate any key issues.
- Review Contractor's applications for payment where necessary
- Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement and learning from HPC and other projects.
- Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
- Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice
- Develop/review content to be included in contract or package contractual requirements
- Prepare for and support estimating / Target Outturn Cost (TOC), schedule, methods/technical and governance reviews as required
- Prepare readiness and handover materials, documents and briefings for the Project Leads and delivery

- Maintain dialogue with delivery teams to support effective mobilisation and construction
Qualifications/Experience:
Training Requirements
- CSCS
- Management of Temporary Works Course
- SMSTS or equivalent
Experience:
- Track record of delivering projects throughout the project lifecycle within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment.
- Demonstrate success in developing and managing:
- Engineering design, methods, contract and field execution strategies for project delivery,
- Procurement and management of contracts,
- Control of costs; risk; schedule and change
- Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders
- Able to demonstrate strong management skills including project management, commercial/estimating management, and facilitation.
- Experience of / good understanding of the technical / delivery aspects of the scope
- Experience of working to and meeting tight deadlines in preconstruction stages
- Experience of managing sub-contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, preferably in the preconstruction phase, including experience of NEC contracts.
- Good presentation, influencing and facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills, and a good collaborator who is able to develop relationships and maintain effective networks.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills
