As we continue to grow, we are looking for a Installation and Maintenance Technician to join our skilled team.


Role Overview:


As an Installation & Maintenance Technician, you will be a key member of our operations team, responsible for assembling, modifying, installing, dismantling and maintaining Portable Space buildings both on-site and at our Bacton depot. The role involves practical construction work, fitting out units with windows, doors, partitions, and facilities and ensuring all work is completed safely, on time, and to a high standard.

This is a hands-on, varied role that includes travel to customer sites across the UK. You will represent Portable Space in delivering dependable, customer-focused solutions.


Installation & Construction


Install and dismantle Portable Space buildings and associated equipment on customer sites.
Fit internal components such as partitions, doors, kitchens, and sanitary ware.
Support with delivery, setup, and final handover of buildings, ensuring a professional and smooth process.


Maintenance & Modifications


Carry out depot-based modifications and refurbishments to buildings prior to dispatch.
Attend maintenance call-outs when necessary to diagnose and resolve issues on existing installations.
Conduct unit condition assessments upon collection or return.


Health, Safety & Compliance


Work safely in line with Portable Space's H&S policies, RAMS, SSOWs, and industry regulations.
Participate in toolbox talks, safety audits, and contribute to a safety-first working environment.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area both on-site and at the depot.


Communication & Documentation


Use mobile devices (PDA or tablet) to complete job records, inspections, and documentation.
Liaise with Project Managers and customers to ensure satisfaction and resolve any site queries professionally.


Requirements 


Full UK driving licence required (towing license or CPCS/NPORS qualifications an advantage).
Experience in construction, modular/ portable buildings, or property maintenance (e.g. carpentry, plumbing, basic electrics).
Ability to read drawings and follow installation plans.
Practical problem-solving ability and adaptability across varied tasks and environments.
Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors and with heavy components.
A proactive team player with strong communication and customer service skills.
