Works Permit Engineer (MEHA permit officers) 
The MEH Alliance - Altrad / Altrad Babcock 
Hinkley Point C 

 

 

Accountabilities:    
•    Ensure appropriate Standard Operating Procedures are maintained for all work carried out under the permit-to-work system at HPC
•    Ensure all permits are issued in a timely manner
•    Approve or reject any permits which do not meet the required standard 
•    Carry out site audits to ensure compliance with company and client’s procedures and processes


Key Deliverables:    
•    Initiate site audits to ensure compliance with the safe system of work 
•    Ensures copies of permits, or records of their issue, are kept for a specified period to enable auditing or incident investigation 
•    Build and maintain strong relationships with the permit to work team and client representatives
•    Problem solver, organised, ability to prioritise and deliver within a high-paced environment
•    Commitment drive and the ability to work on one’s own initiative


Minimum Qualifications/ Experience 
(In line with MEH Onboarding matrix)

•    Engineering qualification/relevant experience where it can be demonstrated that safety management was a core module of that qualification/experience 
•    Engineering or process background required
•    Proven ability to perform in a safety orientated capacity
•    Excellent written and oral communications skills, and a thorough knowledge of risk management practices
•    Conversant with all related legislation, codes, and standards
•    Working knowledge of CDM regulations 
•    Positive, can-do mentality 
•    Ability to work in a dynamic and evolving working environment 
•    Proven track record of success

 

 

Additional Qualifications/ Experience:    
•    2 years minimum experience in a role that demonstrates the required skillset/experience, ideally on large-scale projects such as power plants, refineries, petrochemical plants or similar
•    Experience in working on a project with multiple contractor companies, tier 1 and 2’s advantageous
•    Nuclear experience would be an advantage
•    An understanding of permits and the reasons for the use of permits and the surrounding controls essential


Scope
To assist the MEHA Permit Engineers in all matters to implement the works permitting process within HPC.


Area/Building
This is a site-based role with varying locations to enable MEHA Permits to be issued
