Opportunity for a Wheeled Plant Operator working with Dalkia on the Hinkley Point C project,
Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.

It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

Summary of Role:
The Plant Operator will ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials and equipment using a telescopic handler, agricultural tractor, 360 Roto and counterbalance. This role requires strong knowledge of machinery operation, safety protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with other construction workers.
Main responsibilities:
Operate Wheeled Plant:
- Safely operate telehandlers, agricultural tractor, 360 Roto and counterbalance for lifting and moving materials, tools, and equipment on construction and industrial sites.
Material Handling:
- Load, unload, and stack materials as directed, using the telehandler's lifting arm, bucket attachments and counterbalance.
Site Safety:
- Adhere to all safety guidelines, including wearing 6- point PPE and ensuring the equipment is maintained in a safe and operational condition.
Inspection & Maintenance:
- Perform daily checks and routine maintenance on the plant, including fluid levels, tire condition, and general functionality.
Collaboration with the team:
- Work closely with site supervisors and logistics operatives to coordinate lifting operations and ensure materials are positioned accurately and safely.
Report Issues:
- Notify supervisors of any mechanical issues or operational hazards with the plant or site conditions.
Environmental Awareness:
- Be aware of and adhere to all environmental guidelines and procedures on site to ensure compliance with local regulations.
Training & Development:
- Participate in regular training sessions on machinery operation, safety practices, and industry best practices.
Required skills & Experience
Essential
- Construction Site Experience involving plant operations with skill levels equivalent to CPCS/ NPORS
- Securing and transportation of loads
- Understanding of lifting plans and schedules of lifts.
- Good understanding of centralised construction logistics planning
- Good written, verbal and Two-Way Radio communication
- Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in unsafe conditions.
- Maintain a high standard of personal presentation
- Reliability – maintain a good work ethic and routine
- Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
- An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors’ or colleagues needs.
