 Wheeled Plant Operator

Summary of role

Primary: Working for MEH Alliance logistics in operations including but not limited to the following tasks:

• Operation of Forklift, Telehandler or Agricultural tractor including attachments or towed equipment – there will be a requirement for operators to work on more than one specific activity – and a requirement to hold more than one qualification.

• Attend pre start job briefs (DABS) – the completion of Point of Work Risk Assessments, carryout Pre start inspections, operator maintenance, Loading, Unloading and onward internal movement of installation materials and plant to internal locations including those in the main construction areas. Gathering of information regarding materials move. Carrying out end of shift duties including recording of daily work and cleaning of cabs and exterior of equipment.

 

Main responsibilities

• Working strictly and not deviating from the daily plan without authorisation.

• To utilise the nominated bell-to-bell recording system for each shift as directed by your MEH line manager.

• Working strictly to a lifting plan and specific Risk Assessment and Method statements.

• Carrying out daily and weekly operator maintenance /checks and reporting defects on equipment used

• Maintaining equipment to a high standard of cleanliness

• To ensure that your HPC ID pass is on display at all times while at work

• Any additional reasonable duties requested by the logistics Manager/ Supervisor

 

 

Required skills & Experience 

Essential:

• Construction Site Experience involving plant operations with skill levels equivalent to CPCS

• Load security and safe transportation of loads

 

 

Qualifications & Licences  

Essential

• Valid CPCS Card with A17C or A33 category  Telehandler/ Agricultural Tractor

• Valid CITB Health & Safety Test (Operative)

Desirable

• B Category Driving License

• HPC First aid qualification

• Manual Handling trained

• A17 E (underslung Loads)

• Load security

• HPC Pass & Site Experience

• Incident Controller

 

 

Note: NPORS qualifications may be considered depending on category and experience

• Understanding of lifting plans and schedules of lifts.

• Good understanding of centralised construction logistics planning

• Good written, verbal and Two Way Radio communication

• Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in unsafe conditions.

• Maintain a high standard of personal presentation

• Reliability – maintain a good work ethic and  routine

• Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.

• An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors’ or colleagues needs.
