Accountabilities

•    To support the Welding Manager to ensure that all Welding and Welding Related matters within the MEHA are delivered to the highest standards appropriate to the particular requirements of the provision of a Nuclear Power Generating Facility at HPC incorporating all applicable RCC-M specification requirements for materials and workmanship. 
•    To ensure the development of welding processes and procedures that satisfy the requirements of the specification.   
•    To ensure that the most appropriate and suitable methods / processes are applied to ensure the expectation of right first-time quality outputs are delivered.     
•    To provide expert subject matter technical advice, comment and guidance on all Welding and Welding Related matters to the MEHA. 
•    To support the establishment, development, and execution of the Welding Strategy in support of the MEHA project requirements. 
•    To support the Non-Destructive Testing (NDT - e.g., RT, UT and VT) strategy, sometimes referred to as Non-Destructive Examination (NDE), to ensure safe and efficient analysis techniques are applied to evaluate the properties of welded joints.  
•    To act as an SME for Welding Related Matters for stakeholders including, but not limited to, Client (e.g. TCO, RD, DI, JDO), JV Nominated Suppliers, Strategic Suppliers and others.  
•    To support the governance and oversight of the implementation all welding processes and procedures to achieve the HPC quality goals. 
•    To actively promote the HPC Nuclear Safety Culture


Qualifications

•    Minimum of HNC/HND and Apprenticeship in relevant discipline (or equivalent). 
•    Relevant professional Accreditation (CEng/IEng or EngTech with Engineering Council etc.) 
•    Diploma in Welding - Technologist / Engineer (or working towards) 
•    Qualified Lead Auditor 
•    Qualified Welding Inspector - e.g., CSWIP 3.1 / 3.2 or PCN 2 / 3
•    Post Graduate Qualification in Welding Engineering 
•    Chartered Engineer 
•    IWE/EWE (or working towards) 
•    Level II EN 9712 Radiographic Interpretation


MEHA Performance & Objectives

•    Supporting consistent and effective application of the MEHA's policies, standards, and objectives to achieve the safety, quality, time, and cost imperatives. 
•    Supporting the development and implementation of solutions and plans to support the MEHA achieving its key milestones and welding related performance targets. 
•    Support the Welding Manager for the delivery of the Welding and NDT strategy as necessary to meet the needs of the MEHA in the preparation and implementation of welding and welding related activities onsite.

 

 Welding Management & Co-ordination

•    Engage in welding management activities within the Engineering function and co-ordinate efforts with the Construction delivery and Quality Assurance functions. 
•    Support the welding management tools development and deployment, systems and processes needed to ensure compliance with the applicable codes & standards, including: 
•    The effective & timely deployment of the weld management tool across the MEHA in conjunction with the MEHA Quality Team. 
•    Ensuring the weld management tools and processes are fit for purpose and demonstrate the integrity, robustness, accessibility and retrieval of the welding information and records held by the MEHA. 
•    Ensuring that the MEHA's arrangements for managing welding activities are efficient and effective and capable of meeting the project's needs in terms of anticipated volume, type, complexity of welding, and applicable quality standards of welding. 
•    Liaising with other MEHA functions to ensure a clear division of responsibilities for welding related activities and welding activities to ensure effective and robust co-ordination and alignment. 
•    Support the Quality function in ensuring that the MEHA establishes and maintains the necessary welding accreditations.

 

Weld Qualification (WPQR preparation)- Overseeing the development & implementation of the strategy, including:

•    Optimising the range and type of weld procedures required by the project to provide the most cost-effective approach; balancing simplicity, management, and control requirements with the need for up-front investment in procedure qualification and maximising flexibility, ensuring optimal site productivity, etc. 
•    Supporting the technical management & co-ordination of the preparation, qualification & client acceptance of weld procedures and weld repair procedures. 
•    Support the deployment of qualified weld procedures, to minimise / prevent the risk of incorrect methods being utilised. 
•    Provide SME support for the selection of welding equipment, consumables
