We have a fantastic opportunity for a Welder (HPC) to work on the Hinkley Point C project. This is a temporary, 6-month contract.
Our Nuclear & Infrastructure division has extensive experience in the specialist, highly regulated nuclear, transport (road and rail), process industries and power and energy sectors. Providing award winning design teams, utilising state-of-the-art design software and Tekla detailing facilities to offer customers value engineering. This gives a mix of proven success along with modern, innovative design and fabrication ideas to be able to provide a quality, specialised service to a growing market. They continue to set the bar high in their highly regulated market!
Vacancy Details
In the Welder (HPC) position, the purpose of this role will be to connect materials using precise sizes and welding techniques.
Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
To and interpret components within fabrication drawings to assess thickness and sizes of welds required
To be able to control and minimise material distortion
To be responsible for prepping area of work to receive material including pre-heating tools where needed.
To be responsible for checking quality of own work, cleaning down steel ready for Paint and check material for defects or spatter
To be able to dress product, removing any sharp edges using griding techniques
To be responsible for marking work with identification number for traceability
To read additional weld sheets for complex work
To gauge material where needed to correct depth and size
To be able to use different consumables depending on project requirements
Key Skills & experience
One of the following –
Level 2 Welding Apprenticeship
• An equivalent Apprenticeship in a Welding discipline
• Level 2 Diploma in a Welding discipline or equivalent
• Level 2 Certificate in Welding and Engineering Craft Studies
Plus
A Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Welder in a relevant industry
Plus
BS EN ISO 9606 Coded Welding Qualification
