Site Vetting Unit Supervisor - HPC
The Site Vetting Unit Supervisor fulfils a key role in delivering the industry assurance requirement to have all staff and contractors cleared to at least the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before being set to work unescorted on a civil nuclear industry licensed site.
Responsible for supervising a team of Vetting Officers who conduct the verification of all security clearance applications submitted by contractors on the site so that a clearance decision can be made and a BPSS clearance issued which will eventually lead to the applicant gaining access to the site.
The Site Vetting Unit Supervisor will personally conduct and oversee outreach activities to internal and external contractors to teach, mentor, assure and support the vetting application process including aftercare assurance activities.
Pay: £48,667.50 per annum
Weekly Hours: 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri, office hours
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise, train, support and mentor a team of Vetting Officers;
Supervise and manage pre-employment Checks (PEC) case for Management and Processing for all types of workers for the HPC Project
Processing of clearance applications according to set Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
Conduct an outreach programme to train, coach, mentor, assure and support Tier 1 contractors to complete pre-employment checks and NSV cases to ensure a Right First Time (RFT) approach;
Conduct Quality Management Checks and Assurance of PEC’s to ensure regulatory compliance;
Authorisation Decisions for PECs
Initiate and progress National Security Vetting (NSVs) applications cases.
Deliver a Security Screening Provider (SSP) role for minor contractors
Provide aftercare support for personnel security cases;
Deliver and refine Communication Strategy for PECs and NSVs
Provide PEC and NSV Helpdesk Service
Provide forecasts of PEC and NSV casework.
Provide data as required to evaluate performance and quality assurance checks
Conduct audits and security assurance activity of HPC Site Personnel Security Regime users.
Deliver ‘Aftercare’ (Personnel Security Regime).
Support in the development of Personnel Security Risk Assessments.
Monitor and deliver service level requirements as per KPI’s
Educational Requirements/Qualifications
Preferred higher education equivalent level 3 & above
Preferred Experience
Previous experience of vetting/personnel security processes
Experience in following quality assurance processes and procedures
Strong presentations skills
Prior experience of working within a busy office environment
Experience of supervising or managing a team
Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of MS Office packages
