Summary
NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

As part of recent growth on this project, we have a new vacancy for an experienced Senior Project Engineer to join us on site.  Having either electrical or mechanical background, this role will have a focus on developing construction specifications and procedures for electrical, lifting, HVAC, logistics, and temporary works, factoring in design, cost, resource levels, on-going commitments, supplier lead times and required by dates.

 


Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:
Assist in the identification and development services required for contractor mobilisation to site and through scope for enabling services
Be instrumental in the identification of Tier 1 contractor requirements. Analyse allowable and disallowable services as per Tier 1 contract documentation
Drive scope capture and costing exercises
Oversee the design and installation of enabling services, production and adherence of build schedule
Ensure an appropriate level of programme risk is well communicated in the planning and delivery schedules
Have a sound understanding of temporary works and permit to work procedures in construction
Assign work packages to the site wide team, advising on prioritisation
Monitor progress of the project, making adjustments as necessary to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget. Adhere to project governance, client standards and wider procedures
Provide data on forecast/planned and actuals
 

 

What we’re looking for:
Candidates should have relevant experience and qualifications in mechanical or electrical engineering, working in a construction based environment
Excellent communication and leadership skills, and a keen eye for detail, with the ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics
Microsoft Office/Excel
Obtaining security clearance will be a requirement (BPSS or higher)
CCNSG Safety passport or HSE Maps
IOSH Managing safely/NEBOSH, SSSTS/SMSTS would be advantageous as would experience of working on a nuclear or heavily regulated project.

NG Bailey on the Hinkley Point C Project
We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
