Senior Commissioning Engineer (HVAC)

Are you ready to play a key role in one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure projects? Join us at Hinkley Point C (HPC), where your expertise in HVAC commissioning will help bring the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation to life. This is your chance to be part of a diverse, forward-thinking team, shaping the future of low-carbon energy while working in a dynamic and inclusive environment.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Senior Commissioning Engineer (HVAC), you’ll be at the heart of a project that’s transforming the UK’s energy landscape. From early-stage planning to hands-on testing and analysis, you’ll help ensure our HVAC systems are ready for safe, efficient operation. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team, applying your technical know-how and project delivery skills to support the successful commissioning and handover of critical systems.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is from £65,000, we’re also open to considering less experienced candidates, with the salary reflecting the level of skills and experience you bring to the role. We offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle. We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll be a key player in ensuring our HVAC systems are commissioned safely and effectively. From reviewing and developing commissioning documentation to contributing to design reviews, your input will help shape systems that are not only functional but also optimised for ease of commissioning.

As the project progresses, you’ll take ownership of a programme of commissioning tests, working closely with contractors and internal teams to execute and supervise site activities. Your ability to identify and mitigate risks will be crucial in maintaining safety and efficiency throughout.

You’ll also analyse test results, troubleshoot issues, and support the handover process, ensuring all regulatory and safety standards are met. Your work will directly impact the successful delivery of a project that’s vital to the UK’s energy future.

Who You Are

You bring a strong technical foundation in mechanical, industrial, or process engineering, backed by a relevant degree. Your experience in HVAC commissioning, maintenance, or operational support, ideally within the nuclear or another regulated industry, which means you’re confident navigating complex systems and compliance requirements.

You’re someone who thrives in collaborative environments, with the ability to build strong relationships across teams and stakeholders. Your problem-solving skills and technical insight allow you to tackle challenges head-on, whether it’s troubleshooting faults or contributing to design and commissioning strategies.

With a keen awareness of safety, regulatory frameworks, and project delivery, you’re ready to make a meaningful impact on a project that matters. If you’re looking for a role where your expertise will be valued and your career can thrive, we’d love to hear from you.

Why Join Us?

For more than 60 years, nuclear power stations in the UK have been quietly keeping Britain fuelled with massive amounts of home-grown energy.

Our teams up and down the country are proudly continuing to serve the nation – but they also have an eye on the future.

EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C and plans for a new power station at Sizewell C in Suffolk.

Nuclear power is the most reliable, low-carbon energy source currently available to the UK. EDF is playing a key role in the development of nuclear sites, while Hinkley Point C will provide low-carbon electricity to meet 7% of the UK demand. The project is already making a positive impact on the local and national economy as well as boosting skills and education.

We’re not just building new nuclear power stations. We’re developing careers, upskilling generations and creating thousands of employment and apprenticeship opportunities across a variety of skills areas.

It takes a special kind of person to work in the nuclear energy industry and although we have thousands of them there’s always a need for more.

Our industry has a mind-boggling range of opportunities and more jobs, and in more places, than you might think. But it’s also an industry which is changing.

We’re a responsible business and proud to be Britain’s biggest generator of zero carbon electricity. With size, age and experience, we believe we can do even more.
