Operational Duties


Lead the catering unit to meet production and service standards through supportive leadership.
Direct the catering team in executing 'head chef' directives and managing KPIs.
Build positive relationships with clients and stakeholders.
Monitor food production and service standards, addressing issues promptly.
Manage staff performance and conduct in collaboration with management.
Ensure food is produced per Somerset Larder specifications, identifying training needs.
Maintain cleanliness of kitchen facilities and equipment, coordinating maintenance.
Control stock and purchase goods for the kitchen, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
Oversee hygiene and health safety in food production, adhering to legal standards.


Senior Supervisory Duties


Ensure accurate completion of quality records and implement corrective actions.
Investigate customer complaints and recommend corrective measures.
Support management in staffing and operational needs.
Promote a zero harm culture and champion the Supervisor Charter.
Participate in supervisor meetings and share information.


Team Leadership and Management


Lead and motivate the team to achieve KPIs and contractual requirements.
Assist in recruitment and onboarding of new team members.
Prepare and manage staff rotas, resolving queries and ensuring accurate payroll.
Conduct performance evaluations and implement improvement plans.
Ensure training and development plans are effectively managed.
Engage in ongoing professional development and training opportunities.


Qualifications/Experience:


City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2 or Commis Chef Level 2 or equivalent
Food Safety Level 3 (or able to achieve on appointment)
Health & Safety Level 2 qualification
Basic COSHH
