Section Engineer

BYLOR are recruiting for a Section Engineer to work with them on the Hinkley Point C Project.
Key responsibilities and specific accountabilities:
Preparation
- Is instrumental in finding alternative solutions to existing methods to improve quality and safety helping to create best practice
- Produce and gain approval on materials and procedures to enable safe systems of work and compliant solutions to be implemented. Review methods with a view to making improvements
- Look ahead to future works on site and plan and manage the process required to enable works to start on site. Including reviewing available information to identify and solve any potential issues.
Construction
- Manage and cascade information to all relevant parties across the organisation
- Engage with site engineering teams to ensure that any required changes are captured and communicated , as and when they occur
- Ensure continuous improvement to quality processes at a high level by collaborating with the client and leading a 'right first time' culture
- Manage Request For Information or Field Change Requests so as to improve construction processes
- Ensure appropriate controls are applied to prevent reoccurrence of any issues
- Takes responsibility for ensuring that relevant company and project procedures are followed.
- Provides advice and assistance in resolution of technical issues
Management
- Supervises and provides training to ensure competence of the team members
- Is accountable and responsible for their team
Qualifications :
- Must hold a degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent
Essential skills & knowledge:
Technical Skills:
- 3 years + of industry experience
- Understanding of civil engineering projects / complex projects
- Experience of reinforced concrete
- Experience of managing people in project environments
- Provide value engineering in determining the best solutions to engineering problems
- A good level of written and spoken English
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite
- Detailed prior knowledge of national and international standards is not required but a familiarity and experience in navigating standards would be beneficial.
