Opportunity for a Scaffold Supervisor working with Kilnbridge on the Hinkley Point C Project,


Main Duties:


Team Supervision & Coordination


• Lead and manage a team of scaffolders (advanced, basic, and trainees).
• Assign daily tasks and ensure correct deployment of resources.
• Motivate team members and resolve on-site issues.


Health & Safety Compliance


• Ensure all scaffolding activities meet health & safety regulations 
• Carry out risk assessments, toolbox talks, and daily briefings.
• Inspect scaffolding before, during, and after erection.
• Enforce use of PPE and safety harnesses.


Planning & Organisation


• Interpret scaffold drawings and technical specifications.
• Plan scaffolding work in line with construction schedules.
• Liaise with site managers, engineers, and other trades to coordinate access.


Quality Control


• Monitor work to ensure scaffolds are erected to standard (TG20, SG4).
• Maintain accurate records of scaffold inspections and alterations.
• Ensure tagging systems (e.g. Scafftags) are properly used and maintained.


Reporting & Documentation

 

• Complete handover certificates and scaffolding permits.
• Keep records of labour hours, incidents, and material usage.
• Report any delays, hazards, or incidents to site management.

 

Qualifications/Experience:

 

• Advanced Scaffolder card (CISRS)
• SSSTS (Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme) or SMSTS
• Strong knowledge of scaffolding systems (tube & fitting, system scaffolds)
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and method statements
• Solid leadership and communication skills
• Erecting, modifying, and dismantling various scaffolding systems (tube & fitting, Layher, Cuplock, etc.).
• Working on complex or high-risk sites (e.g. nuclear, offshore, industrial, or high-rise environments).

 

Proven ability to:

 

• Manage scaffolding teams of various skill levels.
• Delegate tasks, resolve issues, and maintain productivity under pressure.

 

Practical knowledge of:

 

• NASC guidance (e.g. TG20:21, SG4)
• Work at Height Regulations
• Scaffold inspection procedures and tagging systems (Scafftag, Handover Certificates)
• Experience leading toolbox talks, completing risk assessments, and enforcing safe systems of work.
• Experience coordinating with other site teams (construction, engineering, logistics).
• Familiarity with reading technical drawings and planning scaffolding around project timelines.

 

Keeping accurate records of:

 

• Scaffold inspections and alterations
• Labour hours and materials used
• Safety incidents or near-misses
