Radiological Protection Technician

Rates: £310 PAYE to £420 UMBRELLA per day
Contract: Temp
Job Responsibilities:
- Accompany radiography teams to ensure correct work standards and barrier control
- Confirm barrier erection and equipment operational status
- Perform radiation monitoring at barriers during exposure
- Manage central source store inventory and routine tasks
- Receive/dispatch radiography sources and maintain accurate records
- Control source sign-out process and verify necessary paperwork
- Perform periodic source inventory checks and radiation surveys
- Liaise with the client's Approved Dosimetry Service
- Manage RP instruments and dosimeters maintenance
- Use site Permit to work system
- Generate compliance records
- Support radiological incident monitoring
- Verify work completion and source/equipment removal
Experience Required:
- GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
- City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years' experience as qualified Radiation Protection Technician
- Working knowledge of Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17)
- Competent IT skills
- Proven compliance with work instructions and accurate record keeping
- Demonstrable knowledge of IRR2017 for Radiation Protection Supervisor appointment
- Ability to work flexibly with evening, night and weekend shifts
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
Desirable Qualifications:
- Level 2 qualification in Radiological Protection/Health Physics Monitoring
- Experience in radiation monitoring during radiography work
- Nuclear licensed site experience
- Inventory management experience
- Previous shift work experience
- Knowledge of the client's vision and values
