Radiological Protection Technician

Rates: £310 PAYE to £420 UMBRELLA per day


Contract: Temp

 

 

Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Accompany radiography teams to ensure correct work standards and barrier control
  • Confirm barrier erection and equipment operational status
  • Perform radiation monitoring at barriers during exposure
  • Manage central source store inventory and routine tasks
  • Receive/dispatch radiography sources and maintain accurate records
  • Control source sign-out process and verify necessary paperwork
  • Perform periodic source inventory checks and radiation surveys
  • Liaise with the client's Approved Dosimetry Service
  • Manage RP instruments and dosimeters maintenance
  • Use site Permit to work system
  • Generate compliance records
  • Support radiological incident monitoring
  • Verify work completion and source/equipment removal

 

 

Experience Required:

 

  • GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English
  • City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years' experience as qualified Radiation Protection Technician
  • Working knowledge of Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17)
  • Competent IT skills
  • Proven compliance with work instructions and accurate record keeping
  • Demonstrable knowledge of IRR2017 for Radiation Protection Supervisor appointment
  • Ability to work flexibly with evening, night and weekend shifts
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills

 

 

Desirable Qualifications:

 

  • Level 2 qualification in Radiological Protection/Health Physics Monitoring
  • Experience in radiation monitoring during radiography work
  • Nuclear licensed site experience
  • Inventory management experience
  • Previous shift work experience
  • Knowledge of the client's vision and values
