Opportunity for a Quality Management Lead (mech/elec) working with Mactech on the Hinkley Point C Project,


Job Purpose / Overview


The role of the Quality Management Lead (QML) is to ensure project quality requirements are complied with across the full project life-cycle (Contract award, Design, Procurement, Manufacture, Test, Shipping, Construction/Installation, Test/Commission and Contract close out).


The primary purpose of the QML role is to ensure supply-chain adherence to the contracted quality assurance and quality control requirements. QMLs sit within the Quality Department and are deployed to Areas/Programmes to serve this primary purpose. Day to day reporting is to the Quality Delivery Manager (QDM) who sets out their Area/Programme quality requirements in conjunction with the QML and Project Team.


Main Responsibilities 


Primary Accountability


Review, accept and monitor Contractors Quality Assurance Plans (CQAP) provided by the supply chain
Identify needs for supply chain audits and engage Supply Chain Auditors to perform audits and prompt resolution of findings
Produce Project Quality Control Plans (PQCP) for each contract
Implement key quality arrangements including General Quality Assurance Specification (GQAS), Life Time Quality Records Specification, and Inspection & Test Plan Specification
Provide relevant guidance to contractors on quality requirements and planning for Quality Related Activities
Lead the implementation of LTQR reviews
Develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Ensure manufacturing surveillance per contract is applied in a graded approach based on equipment safety function and project importance
Review and validate ITPs submitted by suppliers, ensuring they are fit for purpose and properly distributed
Coordinate, monitor and improve efficiency of manufacturing documentation review and inspection activities
Perform joint inspections when required
Support the monitoring and technical resolution of non-conformances
Support the review and acceptance of End of Manufacturing Reports (EoMR) and related status reports
Review and deliver end of manufacturing records, leading to quality release of equipment to construction sites
Produce quality documentation (specifications, procedures) as required


Secondary Accountability


Ensure supplier quality control requirements are adequately specified within contract documentation
Ensure quality management processes are correctly applied
Support the Head of Quality Delivery and QDM in achieving adherence with Integrated Management System arrangements


Essential: 


A HNC/HND qualification or degree in a relevant science or engineering subject, or equivalent qualification
 

Desirable:


Hold a professional accreditation
Corporate Member or working towards membership of the Chartered Quality Institute & Chartered Quality Professional
Broad experience of implementing a variety of quality related solutions


Experience


Proven track record of delivering results
Proven leadership experience working in a quality assurance/control environment within 
the nuclear industry or other relevant safety critical industry
Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment
Commercial exposure, especially supplier management
Experience of interacting with regulators e.g., the ONR
Knowledge of Improvement Methodologies, Tools & Techniques e.g., Lean 6 Sigma
Knowledge of the nuclear sector, ideally new build
Knowledge & understanding of nuclear site license conditions
Ability to speak French is advantageous
Knowledge of pressure and nuclear codes
Knowledge of Welding, Non Destructive Testing (NDT), Non-Destructive Evaluation (NDE)
