Role Details :
The Discipline Quality Manager role is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of a nuclear new build project by leading and enhancing quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across complex transverse discipline related scopes of responsibility. This role provides support as part of delivery oversight, drives continuous improvement, and acts as a senior subject matter expert (SME) across designated delivery disciplines.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management
• Manage and coordinate a team including direct and matrixed resource to ensure the delivery of all quality functions within the specific Discipline.
Lifetime Quality Records (LTQR) Governance:
• Ensure documentation from Discipline Installation Teams is collected, submitted, compliant & complete within contract timescales.
• Ensure Inspection Test Records (ITRs) are available and in use for all works within the Discipline
• Monitor LTQR maturity throughout the Discipline and monitor readiness for system and other handovers.
• Interface with Records Leads and Document Control.
Non-conformance Management
• Ensure the identification and correct raising of NCRs for all areas of nonconformance in all aspects of MEHA works and processes.
• Monitor NCR progress towards closure and maintain constant communication with the relevant Discipline Teams and Directors on NCR progress and closure requirements.
• Report NCR progress and actions for relevant Discipline, in all required reports and meetings. (E.g. Command Centre, Quality Board et al.)
• Ensure Discipline Teams and their Directors are informed appropriately on NCR data, ownership and closure requirements.
Surveillance & Quality Control
• Develop and ensure the execution of discipline-specific surveillance plans.
• Perform trend analysis on recurring quality issues.
• Escalate systemic risks to Quality & Construction leadership.
Interface with Completions & Commissioning
• Ensure the management of records and quality actions in the build-up and delivery of handovers and Milestones.
• Validate quality status before Mechanical Completion.
Training and Development
• Providing training and guidance to QL's, QE's and project personnel, on QA procedures, standards, and requirements applicable to your Discipline, promoting a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement including FME, CFSI and local/project wide improvement campaigns and initiatives.
Risk Management
• Identifying and active mitigation of quality risks and hazards within your discipline. Where necessary escalate risks that may pose a threat / to be captured on the project risk register to prevent quality issues and ensure the safety and reliability of the nuclear facility.
Regulatory Compliance
• Ensuring compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and licensing conditions related to quality assurance and quality control activities within your area of responsibility.
Interface Management
• Acting as the lead SME for a designated Discipline and as part of the lead roles within MDT, Coordinating with other project disciplines,
• Providing primary designated support to Discipline Directors, Area Managers and Other Directors for a range of strategic/management related assurance meetings in line with Quality Activities and requirements in specific Discipline
Qualifications
• Recognised auditor qualification.
• Engineering qualification relative to transverse engineering delivery discipline -preferred
• Extensive HPC or equivalent Major Project / Engineering delivery experience - preferred
• Team and Line management experience - preferred
• Demonstrable experience of leading / championing assurance and NSC culture
• Completions and records assurance experience relative to transverse engineering delivery discipline - preferred
• Preferred membership of Chartered Quality Institute.
• Preferred extensive experience of operating progressively in Quality Engineering positions.
• Nuclear Experience beneficial
• Working in Alliance agreement projects
