QA Area Lead is critical to ensuring the successful delivery of a nuclear new build project by maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance within their designated area of responsibility.


Accountabilities

  • Quality Management System (QMS) Implementation: Overseeing the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System within your designated area, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
  • Requirements Review and Procedure Development: Developing, reviewing Construction Work Packs, and approving QA controls and procedures, work instructions, and quality plans (ITPs) specific to your area, ensuring they are aligned with project requirements and best practices.
  • Quality Control Assurance: Conducting Site assurance activities, monitoring quality control inspections and audits to verify compliance with QA requirements, identifying non-conformances, and implementing corrective and preventive actions as necessary.
  • Life Time Quality Records: Assuring the documentation process within your area, to ensure the availability of accurate and up-to-date records for regulatory compliance and project traceability.
  • Training and Development: Providing training and guidance to project personnel, on QA procedures, standards, and requirements applicable to your area, promoting a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement including FME and CFSI.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential quality risks and hazards within your area, conducting risk assessments, and implementing risk mitigation measures to prevent quality issues and ensure the safety and reliability of the nuclear facility.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring compliance with applicable nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and licensing conditions related to quality assurance and quality control activities within your area of responsibility.
  • Interface Management: Acting as the lead SME for a designated area and as part of the lead roles within MDT. Coordinating with other project disciplines, such as engineering, construction, and commissioning, to address interface issues, resolve conflicts, and facilitate smooth integration of quality assurance processes across different project phases.
  • Performance, Analysis, Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality assurance and quality control activities within your area, preparing regular progress reports, and communicating with project management regarding QA status, issues, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Delivery Assurance Audits: Identify and audit critical delivery activities in relation to process compliance (ITP) and record concurrency.

 

Key Deliverables

  • Assurance/audit and KPI reporting.
  • SME input and review of assurance and control process/documentation.
  • SME analysis and status reporting of Life Time Quality Records.
  • Management oversight of NCR and CAR leading to capture and implementation of LFE.
  • SME coaching and development of MDT including delivery and Programme arrangements.

 

Qualifications

  • Competency Based Interview
  • Recognised auditor qualification preferred
  • Preferred membership of Chartered Quality Institute
  • Preferred registered with IRCA

 

Experience

  • Preferred extensive experience of operating progressively in Quality Engineering positions
  • Major Project Experience
  • Nuclear Experience beneficial
  • Working in Alliance agreement projects
