  • Long Term, Full-time position
  • £405 PAYE to £545 UMBRELLA per day


Description & Background


At Hinkley Point C nuclear site, located in West Somerset, we're seeking a Project Manager to join our team as part of the fully integrated Project Delivery organization. The Project Manager reports to the Senior Project Manager and is responsible for ensuring delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities for assigned contracts or work packages. Working in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams across the project, you'll ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters. Due to the high profile and complexity of this project, as the first of the UK's next generation of nuclear power stations, experience in managing contracts within large and complex projects is essential.


Principal Responsibilities

 

  • Assist in securing and maintaining SQEP resources for project requirements, promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues
  • Support development and implementation of strategies aligned with the programme execution plan (PEP)
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders within assigned contract or work package
  • Drive delivery of contract or package activities to ensure safe, on-time, on-budget completion
  • Monitor progress against milestones, deadlines, and budget, providing key stakeholder reports
  • Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contract or package, identifying risks and facilitating resolution
  • Ensure schedules are developed and maintained consistent with overall Project schedules
  • Implement lessons-learned and knowledge-capture as business as usual
  • Interface with other programmes to monitor overall project progress and adopt best practices
  • Ensure contractual requirements are fulfilled, escalating where necessary to Senior Project Manager
  • Work 50% site-based and 50% office-based, with weekend/shift work as required


Required Qualifications & Experience

 

  • Demonstrated project management experience in engineering design, contract strategies, and field execution
  • Experience with multi-discipline EPCM Projects
  • Working knowledge and management experience of construction activities
  • Procurement and management of complex contracts worth £250k to £150m
  • Control of costs, risk, schedule, and change management
  • Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
  • Experience in commercial claims management and associated negotiation


Essential Skills

 

  • Proficient numeracy, analytical and critical reasoning abilities
  • Application of estimating, scheduling, programming, risk, and Earned Value Management tools
  • Excellent presentation, influencing and facilitation skills
  • Understanding of nuclear quality assurance and control
  • Effective management of multiple stakeholders
  • Collaborative approach to project operations management
  • Results-focused mindset with personal accountability


Desirable Experience

 

  • Degree or similar qualification in engineering, construction or related field
  • Professional Qualification in Project Management such as APM PPQ
  • Experience with NEC and FIDIC commercial arrangements
  • Experience in high-security environments
  • Experience within the Nuclear environment
