Opportunity for a Project Manager working with Vulcain Engineering on the Hinkley Point C Project,


Main Duties:


As part of the Project Management and Project Controls team responsibilities include:

 

  • Ensure effective production and distribution of reports to Delivery Integration and other project areas as per Delivery Integration's instructions 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders within Delivery Integration and other project areas, relaying required actions to the Production Control Team
  • Effective manage the Production Control Team to ensure set KPI's are met/exceeded, and delivery of service is optimal
  • Management of the Production Control Team to ensure effective execution of activities 
  • Define the work scope to be delivered within the contract or package of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme
  • Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work
  • Assist in securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team
  • Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely, on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matters
  • Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement
  • Develop, manage and update (with the project controls team) project and programme plans including full costing, development of WBSs, resource management, cost management of risk and critical path review, using appropriate software and tools
  • Manage the change control as the project/programme scope changes, using the correct processes and updating the necessary configuration documentation
  • Understand the need for project baseline control and different types of baseline change
  • Understand the tools assess project performance and quality against the baseline schedule
  • Understand risk and opportunities and integrate the cost of these strategies effectively into the plan/schedule
  • Understand project control methodologies and processes for programme and project management
  • Apply the principles of Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Maintain an understanding of all current codes of practice
  • Participate in technical communities to support the development of other Vulcain staff


The Project Manager must have, or be working towards the following:

 

  • Minimum of HND in Management, Economics, Engineering, Construction, Quantity Surveying or another Related Subject
  • Degree in Engineering, Project Management, Economics or another related field
  • APM Practitioner Qualification or Equivalent
  • In the absence of these qualifications sufficient relevant experience can be appropriate to determine suitability.
  • Chartership status through a recognised international body


Knowledge of the below are essential:

 

  • HPC Site experience
  • Project management tools and techniques
  • Planning software e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project
  • Cost Software e.g. SAP
  • Risk Software e.g ARM (Risk, Opportunity and Trends), EcoSys (Changes), @risk (QCRA), Safran (QSRA)
  • English - written and verbal
  • Microsoft Office


Knowledge of the below are desirable:

 

  • French - written and verbal
  • Nuclear Safety Culture
  • The UK Nuclear Industry


You will have proven experience or be looking to develop the following:

 

  • Successfully engaging groups of stakeholders
  • Assessing and analysing cost/plan performance
  • Proven experience of projects in high hazard industries including Nuclear, Energy, Rail, Oil & Gas and Aviation
  • On-site design support
  • Proven experience of delivering major (£50m+) projects
  • Understanding of various contract types e.g. the NEC suite and FIDIC
  • Knowledge of CDM regulations
