Project Controls Manager

Principal Accountabilities:


• Produce and maintain accurate estimates and change forecasts in alignment with the Cost Breakdown Structure or Work
Breakdown Structure (CBS/WBS) and delivery within their programme/area
• Providing assurance of the maintenance of all project controls data, for the Programme/Area, within the Project Controls
software systems e.g. EcoSys, P6, ARM etc.
• Assurance of the delivery of reports to a defined reporting cycle, including commentary on key time-related drivers and
performance issues ensuring the quality of the output
• Delivers clear and concise insights to support robust decision-making utilising commercial and technical information to
influence decisions, at a Senior and Director level.
• Act as a role model for the effective collaboration with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve
mutually successful outcomes in keeping with the HPC project values of _Humility, Positivity, Respect, Solidarity and
Clarity_ and culture of _Trust, Transparency and Teamwork_
• Acting as an expert in the application of fundamental project and business project controls principles and interfaces with
wider management processes, assuring that their programme/area applies these techniques.
• Ensuring the promotion and embedding a culture of good governance, risk awareness and compliance across the
organisation. Support the education of project controls reporting functionality and provide feedback and recommendations
for improvement.
• Effective collaboration, leadership and management of colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve
mutually successful outcomes.
• Ensure all Project documents, for their programme/area, in particular Sensitive Nuclear Information, are correctly
protectively marked, and protected in accordance with EDF policies and procedures.
• Proactively seeking to continuously improve Project Controls discipline performance by implementing best practice and
learning.


Requirements:


Experience:


•Able to deliver accurate and concise project controls insights to drive evidence-based decision making, utilising commercial and technical information, to influence project decisions and support the management of risks/opportunities.
•Understanding and/or practical experience of wider project controls disciplines enabling project controls management to be integrated with cost, schedule and risk, and provide assurance that project controls reporting and outputs of analysis aligns with other project data.
•Understands how the impact of changes/decisions may impact the programme/area delivery.
•Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
•Proven ability to facilitate project controls conversations with colleagues at all levels, including Executive and Director leadership.
•Effectively communicates complex issues and concepts (unique insights) in simple ways, to both technical and non-technical senior audiences.
•Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks to other team members.
•Possesses high work standards and sets ambitious, yet attainable goals. Constantly drives to streamline and simplify to deliver business value.
•Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes.
•Experience in line management, coaching and career development of junior members of teams.


Qualifications:


Minimum of Degree or equivalent qualification in project management, project controls, engineering, or another related field
•Project Controls Specific Qualifications or equivalent
•At least fifteen years senior level experience in a Project Controls team in a complex, highly regulated industry (ideally nuclear or energy) working in a role, which requires active integration management and senior level influencing with multiple stakeholders.
•Proven leadership experience and experience of supporting a team to maximise the delivery of a team.
•Experience of working on a major construction project
•Experience of working in the Nuclear Industry or other highly regulated industry

The jobholder will be expected to have expertise in the use and supporting training of others, of the following (or equivalent) software tools:


•Primavera P6 (Scheduling).
•Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access)
•ARM (Risks, Opportunities, Trends).
•@risk (QCRA).
•Safran (QSRA).
•Adobe Professional (Report Publishing).
