We’re seeking a Preservation Technician to support the safe storage and maintenance of complex mechanical and electrical materials at a major construction site Material Storage Facility. This on-site role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail and experience in handling and protecting industrial components.

Client Overview


We’re supporting a major contractor working on Hinkley Point C (HPC), the UK’s first new nuclear power station in a generation. HPC will provide low-carbon electricity to meet around 7% of the UK’s energy needs, preventing nine million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. The project includes the installation of two of the world’s largest Arabelle steam turbines, each producing 1.6 GW of electricity for the turbine halls. These advanced systems are central to delivering reliable and sustainable power for decades to come. Our client plays a pivotal role in the engineering, installation, and delivery of these critical components.
 

Responsibilities


•    Coordinate and carry out preservation and de-preservation routines for materials and equipment according to vendor and project specifications.
•    Inspect stored materials regularly to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
•    Maintain accurate preservation records, including logging checks and updates to condition reports.
•    Operate preservation tools and equipment as required for safe and appropriate storage.
•    Identify and communicate any deterioration, defects or non-conformities promptly.
•    Liaise with material control, logistics and warehouse teams to ensure correct handling and storage workflows.
•    Follow all site safety and environmental procedures during daily operations.


Must-have Requirements


•    Previous experience in a preservation, materials handling or warehousing role within a construction or engineering environment.
•    Knowledge of mechanical and electrical materials and components.
•    Understanding of preservation techniques and industry health and safety standards.
•    Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
•    Ability to maintain accurate documentation and use inventory systems.


Nice-to-have Skills


•    Relevant technical or engineering qualification.
•    Experience on major infrastructure projects.
•    Familiarity with quality management systems.
