Job Responsibilities
• To ascertain job requirements from drawings or other specifications.
• To mark out and develop profiles on plate, structural steelwork and pipework.
• To produce templates for marking and/or drilling.
• To produce angled fabrications using bending or folding machinery.
• To form rolled steel sections using section rolling machinery.
• To set out plate work for structural steelwork fabrication.
• To produce and install structural steelwork fabrications.
• To produce and install plate work assemblies of square, rectangular, cylindrical or conical form.
• To produce and install heavy steelwork beams or sections.
• To produce and install structural lattice girders.
• To use manual metal arc welding to weld fabrications or structural steelwork.
• To use straight line and profile cutting machines.
• To operate overhead crane in a safe manner using basic slinging.
• To carryout Stand-by and fire watch duties.
• To adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.
• To use Oxy/fuel hand burning/heating/cutting equipment.
• To use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements including all relevant training/certification requirements
Qualifications:
• Approved Apprenticeship to City & Guilds NVQ level 3
• Valid Site Safety Passport (CCNSG or Equivalent)
Experience:
• Considerable site experience, with experience on a Nuclear site.
