Opportunity for a Plater working with ENKA UK on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Main Responsibilities
- Cut, thread, and fit up in accordance with the specifications and drawings, using tools such as saws, grinders, cutting torches, and preparing plates and equipment for fit-up.
- Align, level, and plumb the prefabricated pieces, using hand tools and power tools such as saws, grinders, cutting torches and preparing equipment for fit-up.
- Preassemble, assemble and secure steel members of the equipment according to specifications and drawings by welding or bolting.
- Measure and mark equipment for cutting fit up.
- Installation, torquing and tensioning of bolts.
- Installation of related temporary or permanent supports.
- Carrying and setting up all supporting equipment such as welding machine, grinding machine, smoke extractor… etc
- Cut, grind, and clean the temporary bracings
- Lay out full-scale drawings of equipment, supports, and related steel components.
- Repairs and replaces worn equipment pieces as per requirement.
- Assisting with the installation of equipment and its components by using hand and power tools.
- To assist other departments, especially Welding & and preheating and preheating and post heating activities .
- Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all his acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
- Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in his sole and absolute discretion, is necessary in order for the company to comply with his obligations under the nuclear site license.
- Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
- Safe use, protection, storage and care of general maintenance products, hand and power tools
You must:
- Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do);
- Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare;
- Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.
General Conditions
- Have a minimum of 5 years of work experience in fitting up sheet metal and steel members.
- Diploma in Installing Engineering Construction Plant and Systems – Plating or ACE Card or NVQ / SVQ Level 3 Diploma in Fabricating Steel Structures (Plating)
- Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS)
- Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport.
