Summary

 

NG Bailey are proud to be involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset.  This is the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero-carbon electricity for around six million homes. NG Bailey, the UK’s leading independent engineering and services business, are proud to be part of the MEH Alliance, a joint venture to deliver the mechanical, electrical and HVAC installation for the project.

As we expand and grow with this project we are looking to recruit a Plant Manager to oversee the management, maintenance, and compliance of all Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) systems and welding equipment within the MEH Alliance at Hinkley Point C.

 

Some of the key deliverables in this role will include:

 

  • Manage the control and maintenance of all LEV systems and welding equipment including machines, tools and accessories.
  • Oversee regular inspections and performance assessments of LEV systems to maintain compliance with regulatory standards, such as COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) 
  • Ensure that all welding equipment is calibrated and maintained in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and safety guidelines. 
  • Implement a regular maintenance schedules, addressing  certification, repairs and replacements, coordinate with external contractors as needed. 
  • Maintain accurate records of performance, maintenance schedules, and any corrective actions taken. 
  • Develop and implement safety protocols (in collaboration with the HSE team) related to the use of LEV systems and welding equipment, ensuring that all users are adequately trained and equipped. 
  • Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify any non-compliance issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Deliver training programs for staff on the proper use and maintenance of welding equipment and LEV systems. 
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and regulatory changes related to LEV systems and welding safety, sharing knowledge and recommendations with the team. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and performance, recommending upgrades or new technologies as required. Work with the procurement team to source new equipment, in line with requirements, compliance and cost-efficiency criteria. 

 

What we’re looking for:

 

  • Degree or diploma in mechanical engineering, industrial maintenance, or a related technical field is preferred or 5 years’ relevant experience.
  • Relevant certifications in welding, LEV system management, or Health and Safety (such as NEBOSH) are advantageous 
  • P601 desirable
  • Prior experience within highly regulated industries, preferably nuclear is beneficial in this role.

We are working across both Hinkley Point C units to deliver the infrastructure that will power the station and its operations, creating 1,000 jobs including many specialist engineers. Works include the design and installation of circa 76,000 cables totalling over 3,000km in length; over 180km of cable containment support systems; fire and environmental sealing; design and installation of earthing systems, and specialist packages associated with data acquisition and plant control.
