Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset 

Contract Type: Permanent  

Salary: Starting from £63,000 per annum (depending on experience) 

Shift Pattern: 

  • 9 days across 2 weeks (Monday to Friday on week 1 & Monday to Thursday on week 2).

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Planning Manager at Hinkley Point C. 

 

As a Planning Manager, you will play a key role in the planning, forecasting and execution of day-to-day distribution operations across the entire site.  

Reporting to the Planning and Co-ordination Lead you will be responsible for developing and delivering complex logistics plans across the end-to-end supply chain.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee a safe and compliant operation and operational team. Meeting the highest HSEPIs for the discrete element of the Wilson James operation 
  • Collaborate closely with the Client's Logistics Organisation to agree on a feasible plan considering the logistics capacity constraints short and long term. 
  • Manage on-site capacity planning and forecasting for the distribution and handling of permanent material. 
  • Work closely with operational and digital team leads to ensure provision of data inputs into the logistics capacity plan to underwrite operational capacity and resilience. 
  • Develop and rehearse contingency plans for logistic capacity management.
  • Work with all on-site contractors to ensure logistics plan is coherent for all parties. 
  • Collaborate with functional data owners to ensure accuracy of data inputs to the plan (incl. the integrated planning team). 
  • Ensuring effective coordination and communication among operational team members to optimise planning activity. 
  • Responsible for elements of KPI reporting (Capacity, receipting and distribution operations). 

 

 

What do we need from you: 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential  

  • Experience in generating safe and efficient plans against time and space constraints. 
  • People leadership in a dynamic and unionised employment landscape. 
  • Experienced in Logistics planning and operations, especially for major capital projects, in the construction industry, or other relevant industry 
  • Strong data analytics, inquisitive with an ability to identify patterns and constraints 
  • Clear and effective communication with internal and external teams to escalate and get feedback on logistics capacity and constraints 
  • Knowledge of estimating, scheduling, change management, cost management and risk management techniques 
  • CITB HS&E Managers and Professionals certificate (MAPS) – must be obtained before the start date. 
  • Microsoft Office software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project) 

 

Desirable 

  • Construction Logistics Expertise: Strong background in logistics operations, providing valuable insights into operational requirements. 
  • A transport operations qualification would be advantageous. 
  • Logistics or Supply Chain Planning tools 
  • Power BI/DOMO (Business Intelligence Analytics) 
  • On-site storage capacity and inventory system 
  • DMS (Fulcrum) Distribution operations and telematics 

 

 

Site Specific Information: 

  • You must be able to provide a 3-year work/ unemployment/ education history required for the vetting process in line with HPC protocols. 
  • You must be able to obtain the HPC pass. 
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
