Opportunity for a Planning Lead working with Wilson James on the Hinkley Point C project,
Summary of role
This role is critical in the efficient delivery of on-site logistics at Hinkley Point C. The role incumbent will be responsible for all elements of operational planning and supply chain visibility.
This will include the management and delivery of a logistic control tower to provide NNB Logistics with ‘final mile’ visibility and data-enabled decision-making. The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of logistic resources to meet demand in distribution and capacity management, short and long-term horizons aggregating and processing the demand indicators from all contracted parties. The role will be integral to the site-wide integrated capacity planning team. A strong communicator with a comprehensive understanding of data and digital decision-making. A background in construction and or supply chains will be beneficial.
Main responsibilities
- Lead the Wilson James Digital team.
- Collaborate closely with the (NNB) Head of Logistics Operations to agree on a feasible plan considering the logistics capacity constraints short and long term.
- Advise on mitigations and resource requirements to meet site demand.
- Work closely with operational leads to ensure the provision of data inputs into the logistics capacity plan to underwrite operational capacity and resilience.
- Develop and rehearse contingency plans for logistic capacity management.
- Work with all on-site contractors to ensure logistics planning is coherent for all parties, including automated data feeds to the control tower.
- Collaborate with functional data owners to ensure the accuracy of data inputs to the plan (incl. the integrated planning team).
- Collaboration with the Wilson James Business Intelligence team to develop and productise the Wilson James Logistics Digital product seeking automation throughout the supply chain.
- Develop logistics CI plan to underwrite robust logistics delivery of the construction programme enhancing visibility and digital decision making through the Wilson James control tower and business cloud.
- Ensuring effective coordination and communication among operational team members to optimise planning activity.
- Responsible for elements of KPI reporting.

- If you are operating machinery/plant/vehicles you must operate safely in accordance with the instructions and training provided

Essential

- Construction Logistics Expertise: Strong background in logistics operations, providing valuable insights into operational requirements.
- Highly experienced in Logistics planning and operations, especially for Major Capital projects, in the construction industry, or other relevant industries.
- Strong data analytics, and data management, inquisitive with an ability to identify patterns and constraints.
- Deep understanding of the Integrated Planning process.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effectively communicates complex issues and concepts (unique insights) in simple ways, to both technical and non-technical senior audiences.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues within and across organisational boundaries to achieve mutually successful outcomes.
- Strong organisational and time management skills.
- Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement, and construction methods and techniques in a UK context.
- Detailed understanding of Logistics & Planning management methodologies and techniques.
- Working knowledge of Logistics risk analysis techniques.

Qualifications & Licences
Essential
- Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of all MS Office packages. (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Project).
- Working knowledge of Business Intelligence Analytics Tools (Power BI/Splunk/DOMO).
- Working knowledge of On-site storage capacity and inventory system.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills at all working and management levels.
- CITB HS&E Managers and Professionals certificate.
Desirable
- A Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
- A working knowledge of:
- Primavera P6 (Scheduling)
- Supplier Collaboration Logistics or Supply Chain Planning tools
- WMS (Manhattan)
- DMS (Fulcrum) Distribution operations and telematics
Site Specific Information
- You must be able to provide a 3-year work history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
- You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
- The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access
