Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.

The Project Planner will be responsible for driving programme delivery by ensuring that project schedules are accurate, realistic, and aligned with overall objectives. This role focuses on providing clarity and confidence in reporting, enabling informed decision-making across the AB2 Design and Construction projects. The planner will act as a central point for programme coordination, proactively engaging with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients to gather critical information and maintain schedule integrity. Success in this role requires strong stakeholder management, analytical thinking, and the ability to translate complex programme data into actionable insights that support efficient and compliant project delivery.


Key responsibilities:     


•    Develop and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with programme delivery objectives for AB2 Design and Construction projects. 
•    Apply robust planning practices to monitor and control project performance, providing accurate and timely progress reports to clients with confidence. 
•    Perform Critical Path Analysis to identify key activities, assess schedule impacts, and maintain focus on priority tasks for successful delivery. 
•    Integrate programme data with 4D planning tools to enable visual sequencing and alignment between schedule and construction methodology, supporting enhanced project delivery and stakeholder understanding. 
•    Proactively manage programme changes, capturing and integrating updates to maintain schedule integrity and transparency. 
•    Collaborate with suitably qualified and experienced professionals to ensure technical accuracy and quality within the programme. 
•    Engage and manage stakeholders to drive efficient project delivery, ensuring the programme remains the central driver for decision-making. 
•    Perform resource planning to optimise allocation and utilisation across the project lifecycle. 
•    Ensure compliance with NEC contract management requirements, supporting contractual obligations and governance. 
•    Identify risks and opportunities within the programme and recommend mitigation strategies to maintain delivery performance.


Essential Qualifications and Experience:    


•    Minimum of 5 years’ experience in planning and scheduling on major construction or infrastructure projects.
•    Proven ability to manage and engage stakeholders effectively, including internal teams, subcontractors, and clients.
•    Strong understanding of planning principles and methodologies, including Critical Path Analysis and programme change management.
•    Experience in resource planning and ensuring alignment between programme and project delivery objectives.
•    Ability to proactively seek and gather information from all relevant parties to maintain accurate and up-to-date schedules.
•    Knowledge of contract management requirements, ideally NEC, and their impact on programme delivery.


Desirable qualifications and Experience:     


•    Familiarity with 4D planning tool (Synchro) integration and visual sequencing to support project delivery and stakeholder communication.
•    Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present accurate progress updates confidently to clients and senior management.
•    Degree or higher education qualification in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
•    Professional certification such as APM, PMI, or equivalent in project planning or project controls.
•    Experience working on complex, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects.
•    Advanced proficiency in planning and scheduling tools, including Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, or similar.
•    Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) and other performance measurement techniques
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify risks and develop mitigation strategies.
•    Advanced Excel skills, including use of formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis for programme performance tracking.
•    Proficiency in Power BI for data visualisation and reporting dashboards.
