Permit-to-Work Digitisation and Support Engineer

Job Responsibilities:


1. Digital PTW System Development and Implementation 

Collaborate with stakeholders to manage the paper and digital PTW system tailored to operational needs. 

Lead the integration of the PTW platform with existing systems. 

Develop workflows and user interfaces for ease of access and compliance. 

 

2. System Administration and Support 

Provide technical support for the digital PTW system, resolving user issues promptly. 

Monitor system performance and availability, ensuring minimal downtime. 

Manage user access, permissions, and security within the digital platform.

 

3. Stakeholder Engagement and Training 

Conduct training sessions for employees and contractors on the use of the digital PTW system. 

Act as a liaison between IT, HSE, and operational teams to address technical and functional requirements. 

Gather feedback from users to improve system usability and functionality. 

 

4. Data Management and Analysis 

Ensure accurate entry and storage of permit data within the system. 

Use analytics tools to generate reports on PTW performance metrics (e.g., compliance rates, delays, incidents). 

Identify trends and propose improvements based on data insights. 

 

5. Compliance and Quality Assurance 

Ensure the digital PTW system complies with legal, regulatory, and industry standards. 

Conduct regular audits of the digital PTW process to ensure adherence to safety protocols. 

Coordinate system updates or changes with regulatory or operational requirements. 

 

6. Continuous Improvement and Innovation 

Identify opportunities for automating manual processes within the PTW system. 

Stay informed on advancements in digital tools and systems relevant to safety and operations. 

Propose and implement enhancements to improve the efficiency and reliability of the digital PTW system.

Technical Skills: 

 

  • Strong knowledge of Permit-to-Work systems and associated software. 
  • Familiarity with relevant health and safety legislation, standards, and codes of practice (e.g., HSE, ISO, or local regulations). 
  • Experience in risk assessment and hazard identification. 

 

 

Leadership Skills: 

 

  • Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure. 
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: 
  • Clear and concise verbal and written communication. 
  • Ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Qualifications and Experience 


Essential: 

 

  • Level 3 in engineering and or equivalent experience within engineering 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role within high-risk industries (e.g., construction, oil & gas, energy). 
  • Experienced in Digital Management Systems and procedures. 

 

 

Desirable: 

 

  • Professional qualifications in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent). If not must be willing to gain the qualification.  
  • Experience with digital PTW systems and tools. 
  • Knowledge of emergency response procedures.
