Opportunity for a Permit Engineer to work with Dalkia on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.
All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.
All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.

Summary of Role
- Working with the Project Permit Controller to create, review, maintain and manage Dalkia’s Work Authorisations/Work Order Cards/Job Order Cards.
- Assist in coordination of work working closely with various departments within Dalkia offering assistance and guidance to keep work going, start work etc
- Working with other departments in Dalkia in developing processes, procedures and offering guidance in adhering to site compliance and standards.
- Working with a developing scope and being both reactive and proactive to a dynamic project.
Accountabilities:
- Ensuring Dalkia’s work authorisations are in place and compliant to cover the scope of work required.
- Ensuring Dalkia’s work authorisations are compliant to the health and safety site guidance and standards.
- Liaising with different parties within Dalkia, other contractor companies and client to allow proper coordination and communication.
- Use or the P2W system (HPC’s Permit to Work software) to create (when required) and manage Work Authorisations.
- Keep the Dalkia Permit/WAF Acceptors/P2W users sufficiently trained in use of the system. Maintain training trackers, be part of running sessions in house for Dalkia operatives in the use of the Permit to Work software.
Other Duties / Responsibilities
- Use of the work authorisation and permit system to draw down data to maintain/create trackers and reports to assist Dalkia in organisation of works.
- Working with other contractor companies and client teams to improve and evolve internal processes and procedures as the project and scope evolves
- Assistance in light document control required supplementary documentation (such as RAMS and Fire Risk Assessments)
- be a point of contact and/or guidance for Dalkia PMs, Superintendents and other persons/parties for work authorisations and P2W (Permit to Work software used at HPC)
- Carry out site audits to ensure that Dalkia are keeping compliant with site standards/requirements
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience
General:
- MS Office proficiency etc
- Experience in working/liaising with contractor companies and client representatives on projects
- Creation and management of trackers to assist in work coordination and compliance
- CCNSG / MAPS
Permit related:
- Use of P2W at HPC (very advantageous) or other work authorisation/permit software
- Working understanding of work authorisations and permits, from their creation through to cancellation/work stop or complete
Additional Qualifications/ Experience:
- Nuclear site experience advantageous
- Multi contractor sites advantageous
- Previous permit role in creation, guidance, review, coordination very advantageous
- Any HSE quals: IOSH, NEBOSH as examples
- SMSTS, SSSTS, confined space, working at height, hot works etc, any significant risk task/exposure and control is advantageous
