BYLOR is a joint venture between Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke, delivering the main civil engineering works for Hinkley Point C (HPC), the first new nuclear power station built in the UK in over 30 years. The Role

 

As an HR Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a pivotal role in aligning HR strategies with the operational needs of the BYLOR team at HPC. Reporting to the Head of HR, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior managers, driving people-focused initiatives to support workforce planning, employee relations, and talent development in a highly complex, unionised, and safety-critical environment.  

 

 

Key Responsibilities

 

- Partner with operational leaders to provide strategic HR support, ensuring alignment with project objectives.  

- Lead workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning efforts to meet project demands.  

- Manage complex employee relations cases, working collaboratively with unions and key stakeholders.  

- Support the implementation of HR policies, procedures, and initiatives, ensuring compliance with UK employment law and industry best practices.  

- Drive employee engagement strategies, fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and high performance.  

- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across the project, ensuring an inclusive workplace for all.  

- Support change management initiatives and organisational development efforts as the project evolves.  

- Provide HR data insights and analytics to support decision-making and improve workforce performance.  

 

 

Essential Requirements

 

- Proven experience as an HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor within a large, complex infrastructure, engineering, or construction environment.  

- Strong knowledge of UK employment law, employee relations, and union engagement.  

- Experience in workforce planning, talent management, and succession planning.  

- Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and challenge senior leaders.  

- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.  

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to use HR data to drive decision-making.  

 

 

Desirable

 

- CIPD Level 5 or 7 qualification (or equivalent experience).  

- Experience working on major infrastructure or nuclear projects.  

- Familiarity with the Joint Venture (JV) model and its HR complexities.
