Opportunity for a Painting - Coatings Working Chargehand working with ENKA UK on the Hinkley Point C Project,


Main Duties:

 

  • Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Selecting the correct tools and paints for according to project specifications.
  • Supervising and planning pre-painting activities, including cleaning, scraping, sanding, patching, caulking, and masking of adjacent surfaces prior to painting.
  • Overseeing the preparation of surfaces before applying coatings, which may involve cleaning, sanding and priming.
  • Comply with the COSHH assessments
  • To report any unsafe situation or condition to his supervisor and safety officer and stop working.
  • Manage and maintain coating equipment and tools to make sure they are in good working order.
  • Review and interpret project specifications and plans to identify required coating materials, application methods and cover rates.
  • Planning and execution of the painting in accordance with painting specifications.
  • To report the extra need for consumable/project materials or hand tools to his supervisor.
  • Control over quality and timeliness of works performed by painting crews.
  • Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all his acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
  • Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in his sole and absolute discretion, is necessary in order for the company to comply with his obligations under the nuclear site license.
  • Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
  • Safe use, protection, storage and care of general maintenance products, hand and power tools


You must:

 

  • Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do);
  • Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare;
  • Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.


Qualifications/Experience: 


One of the following from A and B and C:    
    A          • OPITO Level 2 Blaster\Sprayer  

                • Train the Painter - Protective Coatings Applicator 
                • ICATS Protective Coatings Applicator                                                                                                                                                                                      
    B          • Enrolment onto ILM Level 3 Award C&BE plus completion of Nuclear Unit

                • Confirmation of booking onto Nuclear Engineering Construction Supervisor (NECS)
    C          • LATS 
                • SSSTS

                • IOSH Managing Safely
Knowledge of English working level
Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS)
Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport or HS&E test for supervisors


Have minimum 10 years of work experience in large scale projects.
