Non Working Supervisor (Black Hat) Mechanical/Plating

Darchem Engineering are recruiting for Non Working Supervisors (Black Hat) Mechanical/Plating and Welding to work with them on the Hinkley Point C Project,
Key duties and responsibilities will include:
- You are responsible for ensuring the highest standards of housekeeping within your work area; this includes managing safety, quality and environment. Appropriate segregation of waste & signage is essential
- Act as the champion for quality and safety of the area's activity, ensuring a culture that supports safety in all activities of the team. Ensure that safety culture associated with producing a nuclear product is communicated and fully understood by the team
- Deliver the safety briefing - daily activity briefing (DAB) in relation to the team's activity
- Receive, understand and provide feedback on pre- and post-briefings to ensure lessons learnt are fed back. Encourage 2-way conversation.
- Provide clarity on the team on the work instruction's / drawings. Clarify areas of ambiguity and seek further guidance and assistance where required. Develop a technical understanding of the work instructions
- Set the team to work through allocating individual task amongst the team, according to capability and to meet the schedule
- Work alongside the team in delivering the tasks to meet safety, quality and schedule requirements
- Undertake a daily inspection to ensure the team delivery the quality to meet full (100%) compliance of technical specification, safety and quality instructions
- Ensure the team maintain a safe and clean working environment, controlling materials, waste and equipment
- Ensure that materials and resources are in place for the team to deliver, liaising with other functions to ensure their delivery
- Manage productivity and look at ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness
- Manage Break times and end of shift times.
- Log all date on the completion of the teams activity accurately and timely
- Report on observed successes or areas for improvement to ensure lessons learnt and continuous improvement
- Provide mentoring to more junior and less experienced team members, in particular apprentices, in order to develop their capability
- Undertake informal management of the morale and discipline of the team, escalating any issues that require formal action
- Monitor the health and wellbeing of the team to ensure they are suitable for work. Refer area of concern to the Line Manager and make a diary note at all times
- Provide performance feedback, identifying talent and providing the team with a formal performance management process
Qualifications
- SSSTS - Site Supervisor Training Scheme - Essential
- NVQ Level 3 Fabrication and Welding, or
- City and Guilds Level 3 Fabrication and Welding - Essential
- CCNSG Safety Passport (needs to be obtained or already obtained)
- ILM Level 3 Certificate C&BE plus Nuclear Unit - Desirable
Experience:
- Experienced as a team leader of workforce
- Commercial acumen relating to on-site productivity, wastage of time, product efficiency
- Technical competence to the equivalent of the trade competency qualifications associated with the individual post
