Opportunity for a Mechanical Working Chargehand (Blue Hat) working with ENKA UK on the Hinkley Point C Project,

 

Shift working pattern
5-2 Mon-Fri
10hrs/day
38hrs basic
12hrs OT Rate A


Main Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible to ensure that all necessary permit to work documents, drawings, materials, equipment are available and ensure coordination with other teams and departments.
  • Follow established job-site safety and regulations and maintain a safe and clean work area.
  • Review and interpret preassembly and installation drawings
  • Check the withdrawn material against MWR if they are the correct required material
  • Organize the work activities, assign manpower and equipment for the work activities after getting the work permit and approved drawings.
  • To ensure works is done in accordance with the latest revision of the drawings.
  • To ensure safety working conditions of the working area before starting to work.
  • To conduct or attend safety toolbox meetings and DABS meetings every morning.
  • To report any unsafe situation or condition to his supervisor and safety officer and stop working.
  • To report the extra need of consumable material to the black hat supervisor.
  • Organization and supervision of all types of works of different complexity levels performed by mechanical fitters crew for preassembly or installation of equipment.
  • Control over quality and timeliness of works performed by mechanical fitter crews.
  • Responsible to inspect and test all equipment to ensure that they are functioning correctly and are free from any defects.
  • Shall ensure that a "zero harm" approach is taken in relation to all his acts and omissions in relation to the services and the project. Acknowledges that due to the nature of the project, nuclear safety and security are of paramount importance.
  • Agrees to comply with any rule, instruction or requirement of the Company in relation to the services which the company determines, in his sole and absolute discretion, is necessary in order for the company to comply with his obligations under the nuclear site license.
  • Housekeeping of the work areas; collection, segregation and disposal of wastes as required; removal of unused materials and clear the work floors to eliminate/reduce slipping or tripping risks in your work area.
  • Safe use, protection, storage and care of general maintenance products, hand and power tools


You must: 

 

  • Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do); 
  • Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare; 
  • Follow the training you have received when using any work items your employer has given you.


One of the following from A or B and one of the following from C:


A - 

 

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship: Engineering Construction - Pipefitting Standard or Mechanical or Plating;
  • Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician;  
  • Mechanical Manufacture Engineering (Machining);
  • Engineering Fitter;
  • Metal Fabricator;
  • Project Controls Technician 
  • Level 3 Diploma or Apprenticeship in Plant Maintenance Construction or Apprenticeship as a Mechanical Craftsman     
  • Certificate of Apprenticeship in Plating                                                                                                                                                                                                                       
  • ACE Card demonstrating Level 3 Diploma in any of the following:
    • Pipefitting,
    • Mechanical,
    • Plating,
    • Metal Fabricator,
    • Mechanical / Engineering Fitter.


B - 

 

  • Competency Based Interview with a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and minimum of 5 years verified experience in the role or as a Pipefitter, Mechanical Fitter, Mechanical Machinist or Plater in accordance with the appropriate Job Role/ Operational Function.


C - 

 

  • LATS 
  • SSSTS 
  • IOSH Managing Safely


General Conditions

 

  • Have minimum 10 years of work experience.
  • Can achieve Security Clearance (BPSS)
  • Hold or Can achieve CCNSG Safety Passport.
