Mechanical Fitter 
Altrad 
Hinkley Point C 


Key functions
To repair and service various types of mechanical plant and industrial machinery.

 

 

Main Duties & Responsibilities
•    To ascertain job requirements from drawings and/or other specifications.
•    To examine faulty plant or machinery and to ascertain nature and location of defects.
•    To study plant or machinery drawings, technical manuals or other specifications.
•    To determine sequence and method of required operations.
•    To dismantle plant or machinery and remove damaged or worn parts.
•    To repair defective parts, obtain replacement parts or prepare new parts using hand and
•    machine tools.
•    To fit and assemble parts to rebuild plant or machinery.
•    To test plant or machinery for correct functioning and make necessary adjustments.
•    To carry out service tasks such as cleaning, oiling and greasing, according to schedule.
•    To perform all of these tasks in relation to the repair and servicing of various types of
•    mechanical plant and industrial machinery.
•    To operate overhead crane/basic slinging in a safe manner.
•    To install or reposition plant or machinery.
•    To modify standard machinery for special purposes.
•    To adhere to all safety requirements including safety checks of tools and equipment.
•    To use all relevant workshops/site equipment associated with job requirements including all relevant training/certification requirements.


Qualifications and Experience:
(Academic qualifications as well as experience)

•    Approved Apprenticeship/NVQ level 3. Minimum 2 (two) years site experience, with experience on Petro-Chemical Site. Must have a valid Safety Passport.
