Mechanical Erection Supervisor

Key Responsibilities


Supervision & Coordination


Supervise mechanical erection activities including installation of:
Turbines, generators, condensers, and associated pipework
Rotating equipment and auxiliary systems
Coordinate daily site activities with subcontractors, supervisors, and engineering teams
Ensure work is carried out in accordance with drawings, specifications, and method statements


Health, Safety & Compliance


Enforce strict adherence to Hinkley Point C safety rules, nuclear standards, and CDM regulations
Conduct and review RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements)
Lead toolbox talks, site briefings, and safety stand-downs where required
Promote a strong safety culture and intervene where unsafe practices are observed


Quality Assurance


Ensure all installation activities meet nuclear and project quality standards
Support inspection and test plans (ITPs) and ensure sign-off of completed works
Liaise with QA/QC teams to resolve any non-conformance issues


Planning & Progress


Review and interpret construction schedules and ensure works are delivered to programme
Monitor progress and provide updates to the Construction Manager
Identify and escalate risks, delays, or resource constraints


Documentation & Reporting


Maintain accurate site records, including daily reports and workforce tracking
Ensure permits, work packs, and documentation are in place prior to execution
Support handover documentation and system completion


Requirements:


Previous experience working on Hinkley Point C or other nuclear new build projects
CCNSG Safety Passport
SMSTS or SSSTS qualification
NVQ Level 3+ (or equivalent) in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
Experience with permit-to-work systems on major construction sites


Essential


Proven experience as a Mechanical Supervisor or Erection Supervisor on large-scale industrial projects
Strong background in heavy mechanical installation (turbines, rotating equipment, pipework)
Experience working in highly regulated environments (e.g. nuclear, oil & gas, power generation)
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation
Strong leadership and team coordination skills
Excellent knowledge of health & safety legislation and best practice
