Maintenance and Repair Lead
Role Characteristics:
Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.
All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.
All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.
Accountabilities:
- The maintenance and repair lead is an experienced role with the overall responsibility of ensuring Dalkia’s Project at HPC is maintained and controlled as per the Clients and Dalkia business requirements.
- The maintenance and repair lead will manage the effective post construction of the project scope for the site management and delivery phase, ensuring working to Health and Safety standards and procedures, on time and in accordance with the project requirements. The role will require the following:
- Design, Engineering and Procurement: Study drawings and project specification, ensuring understanding of technical, administrative, and contractual requirements. Maintain effective relationships with all stakeholders ensuring scope of work for package is fully understood. Attend meetings ensuring an effective handover of project to the care and maintenance Team. Develop and monitor risk assessments and method statements ensuring “best working practice” approach is used. Support in controlling site plant and material schedules ensuring economic use of resources and reduction in waste and deliveries are received in good condition.
- Construction: Supervise health and safety/welfare on site, ensuring implementation of HSE plan and that all regulatory/legal standards/internal policies are adhered to; including Toolbox Talks; ensuring colleagues “Come Home Safe.” Manage and monitor site so that conditions are safe, tidy, and secure and create a favorable image of project and company. Supervise quality and productivity standards with Site Teams/stakeholders and working with Project Managers to ensure all care and maintenance milestones are met and are recorded. Implemented and maintain an asset registration system and management of all care and maintenance requirements or legal obligations. Manage and monitor operatives and other persons to make best use of their technical expertise, abilities, talent, and skill, providing development opportunities where relevant. Assess labour levels and be able to prepare forecasts and reporting for contract period; ensuring that Operatives timesheets are correctly recorded and processed. Ensure that operatives are aware and adhere to project specification, client and productivity requirements and that individual performance is reviewed and monitored. Support adherence to Site Establishment Schedule ensuring that all contractual requirements are met, and that project care and maintenance meets project specification and or manufacturers recommendations or any legal obligations. support Engineering/Commercial Team with (a) identification and recording of variations (b) details required for monthly payment applications (c) any disruptions/delays affecting progress. Be proactive in leading/ attending regular review meetings with Client/Project Team ensuring that requirements are on track, questions are answered and that records/systems are updated. Pilot, adapt and embrace current and new advancements in technology enhancing methods of work. Challenge status-quo to ensure value is added at every stage; lessons learned are identified and discussed. Share innovation, best practice and look for ways to improve “inch by inch.”
Commissioning:
- Ensure the maintenance schedule are coordinated and communicated with the commissioning teams to avid clashes in the environment . Implement a defect management system to=to record all defects and nay plant and equipment failures,
Close out:
- Supervise satisfactory removal of plant and equipment. Assist Project Team with details for final documentation/systems hand-over and O&M Manuals as required.
Other:
- Engage in CPD activities and actively contribute to the development and effectiveness of Engineering Team. Follow company’s policies and procedures and take all necessary actions to ensure health, safety, and welfare.
Key Deliverables:
- Lead and manage a project maintenance and repair team in solving complex construction, installation, and logistic challenges through systematic approach to planned and organized care and maintenance project plans.
- Understand every aspect of the care and maintenance of the site common services project at HPC, control and plan and function as a leader regarding care and maintenance systems.
- Engage with the site project team and leadership and contribute to daily, weekly, monthly, and longer-term planning meetings and forums.
- You will be supporting Project managers, Engineers, and supervisors.
- Coordinate with the project procurement lead.
- Contribution of project lead team reviews, meetings, and discussions to set and maintain the project objectives and performance.
- Implementation of performance monitoring and reporting including regular monthly dashboard preparation with real time KPI’s.
- Look ahead forecasting resourcing projections defined by level and skills to support the resourcing and onboarding of relevant workforce operatives.
- Coordinate with wider Dalkia Engineering labour manager to manage peaks and troughs with workforce requirements.
Minimum Qualifications/ Experience
- Construction qualification through craft or engineering Apprenticeship with relevant experience to Level 3 ONC minimum ideally / Level 4 HNC in Joinery related construction or Engineering. Or Facilities Management
- Level 3 NVQ Construction site Supervision
- Relevant health and safety qualification
- First line management qualification
- 5 GCSE’s (A – C Grade) including English & Math’s (or equivalent)
- MS 365
- CSCS Card Engineer Skill card or JIB/ECS (Black)
- Full driving license
Additional Qualifications/ Experience
- Proven track record in large scale projects in the nuclear or similar regulated sector, including major EPC projects.
- Experienced in delivering and operating delivery of the care and maintenance at a functional Leadership Level
- BEng/MEng
- CIOB or CIBSE STATUS (or working towards)
- MS Project or Asta Power Project
- Level 4 HNC in Facilities or Care & Maintenance Site Management
- Level 5/6 HND/BEng in Facilities management
- Level 6 Construction Contracting Facilities management.
- Level Construction Senior Management
- ILM Level 3-5 in Leadership and Management
- Understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions.
- An investigative mind and a keen eye for detail.
