Opportunity for a Logistics Operative - Building working with Wilson James on the Hinkley Point C Project,


As a Construction Logistics Operative, you will play a key role in assisting operations. You will take up various supporting tasks in construction logistics and keep the workplace clean and safe. Some of your day-to-day duties will involve installing way-finding and emergency signage, fire point maintenance and waste management. You will also be responsible for general building cleaning and housekeeping in your designated work area. You will be part of a great team, who are supportive and friendly.


Main responsibilities 

 

  • Installing way finding signage.
  • Installing Emergency signage.
  • Waste management.
  • Fire point maintenance.
  • Water point replenishment.
  • General Building cleaning.

  • To carryout housekeeping duties at construction building shared areas, compounds and satellite accommodation.
  • To ensure that you wear the correct PPE and your HPC ID pass is on display at all times while at work.
  • Any additional reasonable duties requested by your Supervisor.


Health and Safety responsibilities

 

  • All work is carried out in accordance with HPC and MEH site procedures and training provided. 
  • Comply with the WJ Health and Safety Policy, procedures and protocols at all times
  • Ensure you have received a Point of Work Risk Assessment (PoWRA) daily and had read your Method Statement and Risk Assessments before commencing any daily activity.
  • Only carry out works as detailed in your Work Approval and Method Statement provided by your line manager.
  • Ensure that you are working in accordance with the safe system of works, as briefed by your Line Manager
  • Ensure that you are fit for work prior to reporting for duty each day
  • Report any health and safety concerns to your line manager
  • Once Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been issued ensure that you keep it serviceable at all times and report any defects to your line manager
  • 6 point PPE is required in all construction areas and external compound areas.
  • Use STAR - (STOP/ THINK/ ACT/ REPORT) if you are unsure about the working environment or conditions.
  • You will be required to attend a safety critical medical and ensure you remain fit to carry out your duties


Required skills & Experience


Essential 

 

  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Experience in the use of cleaning products and equipment
  • Ability to understand Safe Systems of work
  • Experience in using Coshh material and understanding cosh assessments
  • Demonstrate the ability to think and act quickly in unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain a high standard of personal presentation
  • Reliability – maintain a good work ethic and routine
  • Able to demonstrate an ability to work as part of a team.
  • An understanding of the principles of equality and diversity in relation to visitors’ or colleagues needs.


Desirable

 

  • Basic IT skills
  • Medium Risk confined space training


Qualifications & Licences 


Essential 

 

  • CITB Operative H&S test (must be completed before start date)
  • Experience of working on a construction site


Desirable

 

  • Driving License
  • First aid at work
  • Manual Handling trained
  • HPC pass holder


Site Specific Information

 

  • You must be able to provide a 3-year work history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
  • You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of upto 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
  • 39 working hours over 4 days
  • Monday – Thursday 06.45 – 17.00 (includes break)
