Logistics Chargehand - Night Shift

Summary of Role: 
The main role will be to supervise general operatives working across multi skilled activities ensuring they are working safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes.
To provide continuous support to the MEH Alliance Disciplines


Main Responsibilities: 
Working from the Stores Compound office your responsibilities will be:
• Planning the logistics activities for your shift period with the MEH construction team
• Ensuring the daily tasks are clear and that POWRA are completed
• Ensuring a smooth take over and handover between shifts
• Ensuring Operatives are briefed regularly
• Ensuring toolbox talks and safety stand downs are delivered and recorded
• Assisting the logistics manager with the delivery of DABs to the workstream daily
• Assisting the logistics manager with completion of DABs and Day Notes
• Maintenance of report data for workstream lead
• Day to day contact with MEHA logistics Chargehand and Supervisors
• Day to day contact with H&S to ensure compliance with compound emergency planning information
• Collection of data and delivery of planned material and equipment moves from logistics coordination team.
• Ensures Logistics team have the correct incident and safety cover in place
• Provide mutual support to other MEHA Logistics Supervisors & Chargehands
• Maintaining Logistics equipment in construction areas
• Maintenance and management of allocated controlled stores in compounds and BAAs
• Providing Handling and transport arrangements for Material movements

Health & Safety:
Health and Safety responsibilities

Ensure work is carried out in accordance with site/department procedures and training provided. 
▪ Comply with the WJ Health and Safety Policy, procedures and protocols at all times
▪ Ensure you and your team have received the required training or familiarisation on equipment prior to commencing works
▪ Ensure that you are working in accordance with the safe system of work (RAMS), as briefed by your Line Manager
▪ Ensure that you are fit for work prior to reporting for duty each day
▪ Report any health and safety concerns to your line manager
▪ Once Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) has been issued ensure that you keep it serviceable at all times and report any defects to your line manager
▪ Always ensure while at work you are wearing the correct PPE- at HPC this is 6 point PPE
▪ If you are operating machinery/plant/vehicles you must operate safely in accordance with the instruction and training provided
▪ Set a good example at all times

 

 

Required Skills & Experiences: 
Essential
• Previous Management or Supervisory Experience in Construction / Logistics related activities
• Excellent IT/ MS office skills
• Preparation and presentation of key reports and documents. 
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Demonstrate the ability to build and develop a team
• Able to deal calmly and confidently with all demands from construction and Client.
• Experience in reporting Observations and Near misses


Qualifications and Licenses: 
Essential 

• CITB certificate (Site Supervisor CITB Health and Safety)
• Driving License

 

Desirable
• IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent
• Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
• Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management (or working towards)
• CSCS Card Manager Level (Gold)
• HPC pass holder
• HPC Incident Controller
• HPC TMIC


Site Specific Information: 
• You must be able to provide a 3-year work history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
• You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
• The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
• 39 working hours over 4 days 
• Monday to Thursday working 18.00pm – 04.15am.
