Salary: £23.28 per hour  

Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday 

 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Logistics Chargehand for our Internal Stores & Compounds Department at Hinkley Point C. 

 
As a Logistics Chargehand, you will play a key role in providing controlled receipt and issue of tools, materials and equipment from our stores and compounds. You will be reporting to the Logistics Manager for Compounds and your main role will be to supervise logistics operatives ensuring they are working safely in line with RAMS, DABS and HPC processes.  

 

You will be responsible for delivering familiarisation, competency training and toolbox talks and you will keep records for audit purposes. You will ensure that all compounds are set up correctly, have the relevant equipment, documentation and safe walkways. This will be a very busy role with conflicting priorities, and we are looking for someone who wants to join us who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has the ability to work with blue and white collar workforce. You will be part of a great team, who are supportive and friendly.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • To carry out the Daily Activity brief and set the team to work.  
  • To ensure the completion of daily checks sheets, report any defects to the manager and keep records for audit/data recording purposes. 
  • Deliver familiarisation/competency training and keep records for audit/data recording purposes.  
  • Ensure all PPE, equipment and consumables are stored, accounted for and records kept for audit/data recording purposes. 
  • Ensure all equipment and consumables are stored correctly and at the correct temperature and humidity.  
  • Ensure all equipment that requires certification is kept in date and reinspected as appropriate.  
  • To ensure all storage containers are secured when not manned. 
  • Set up/maintain exclusion zones when required.  
  • To ensure all stores containers are kept organised, clean, tidy and free from obstruction. 
  • Ensure all material that requires quarantine is secured promptly.  
  • To ensure all compounds are set up correctly, have the relevant equipment, documentation and safe walkways.  
  • To ensure all material deliveries are receipted correctly, ensuring receipt paperwork is completed, filed and relevant departments are updated.  
  • To inform all operatives of any changes related to site duties or site requirements – sign off POWRA where required.   

  

 

What do we need from you: 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

Essential  

  • A CITB Supervisor H&S test (must be obtained before the start date). 
  • Site Supervisory Safety Training Scheme Certification SSSTS 
  • You must be able to obtain the certification within the first 3 months of employment 
  • Previous Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of material storage processes. 
  • Driving Licence  

 

Desirable 

  • Experience working in a centralised construction logistics team.  
  • Demonstrate a knowledge and experience of stores accounting.  
  • Demonstrate a knowledge of the management of Calibration, P.A.T and thorough examination processes.   

 

 

Site Specific Information: 

  • You must be able to provide a 3-year work history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols.
  • You must be able to obtain the HPC pass.
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access.
  • Monday to Friday shift pattern
