Job title: Logistics Chargehand (Blue Hat) - Night Shift 

Location: Site-based at Hinkley Point C, Somerset 

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (12 months maternity cover)

Salary: £23.28 per hour plus shift allowance

Working Hours:

  • 12 hours shift  pattern (overtime will be paid after 39 contracted hours)
  • 4 days a week, Monday to Thursday: 17:45 pm to 05:45 am

 

We have an exciting opportunity for you to join us as a Logistics Chargehand (Night Shift) on a fixed-term contract position for 12 months at Hinkley Point C. 

As a Logistics Chargehand you will be responsible for ensuring that works are completed, and documentation is recorded accurately and timely.  

You will be reporting to the Logistics Manager and your main role will be to supervise operatives.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Supervising a team of Logistics Operatives. 
  • Completing daily briefings before work starts, and ensuring all operatives understand their daily tasks and are aware of any new hazards within their work areas. 
  • Responsible for waste management, generic housekeeping and receiving deliveries into the building and taking to their final laydown area.  
  • Carry out quality checks and inspections on works carried out by the operatives and provide support from an operational perspective when required. 
  • Responsible for delivering familiarisation and competency training, and you will keep records for audit purposes. 
  • Supervising the management/recording/replenishing/maintenance of all fire points, consumables and signage within the buildings and galleries. 
  • Ensure all plant/equipment are maintained and keep records for audit and data recording purposes. 
  • Ensure plant and equipment are stored correctly and keys are secured when not in use. 

 

 

What do we need from you: 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications 

 

Essential  

  • Demonstrate knowledge of material coordination processes  
  • Previous Supervisory Experience 
  • CITB Supervisor H&S Test Certificate (must be obtained before start date) 
  • Site Supervisor Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) Certificate - (to be obtained within initial 3 months of employment)
  • Good IT Skills 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills 
  • Understanding of Health and safety responsibilities and obligations 
  • Demonstrate reliability including and have strong time management skills to ensure team effectiveness and availability 

 

Desirable 

  • Experience working in a centralised construction logistics team. 
  • HPC pass holder 
  • HPC Incident Controller 
  • HPC TMIC 
  • Driving License 
  • Experience with Passenger/Goods Hoists 

 

 

Site Specific Information: 

  • You must be able to provide a 3-year work history and required vetting process in line with HPC protocols. 
  • You must be able to obtain the HPC pass. 
  • The site is located remotely and a bus journey of 45 minutes each way is required to gain access. 
  • 30 minutes unpaid for break
