We're looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join our dedicated team at Hinkley Point C, supporting one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects.

 

Working within our on‑site Health, Safety and Environmental team, you will help ensure our logistics operations consistently meet the highest standards of safety, compliance and wellbeing. You'll monitor working practices, provide practical guidance to colleagues and contractors, and support the continuous improvement of our safety systems and procedures.

 

This role is ideal for someone experienced in construction or safety‑critical environments who takes a collaborative, supportive approach and is committed to maintaining a safe and inclusive workplace.

 

As a Health & Safety Advisor, you will:

  • Support compliance with Health & Safety requirements across HPC logistics operations.
  • Work closely with both the site‑integrated H&S team and the Wilson James Health, Safety & Wellbeing team.
  • Provide clear, competent H&S advice across a multi‑disciplined project.
  • Conduct inspections and audits in line with HPC and WJ standards.
  • Monitor working practices relating to safety, wellbeing, environmental impact and welfare.
  • Engage with Site Safety Representatives and other stakeholders to promote safe behaviours.
  • Record observations, inspection findings and audit outcomes accurately.
  • Intervene and guide when unsafe behaviours or conditions are identified.
  • Report incidents, near misses and observations through the project and WJ processes.
  • Share learning and contribute to improving systems, processes and culture.
  • Carry out other duties aligned with the role as required.

  • from £42,000 plus a guaranteed 8.5% monthly bonus (associated with working with the team at HPC).

Qualifictions

Essential:

  • NEBOSH General or NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent Level 3 H&S qualification).
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety role.
  • Professional IOSH Membership (TechIOSH or working towards).
  • CITB MAPS Test (or ability to obtain prior to starting).


Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the HPC site.
  • Existing HPC pass.
  • Driving licence.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.


Experience:

  • Strong working knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in construction.
  • Experience in a safety‑critical, multi‑disciplined environment.
  • Confident reviewing and supporting the development of RAMS.
  • Effective communicator, able to engage constructively at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive working environment.

 

Additional Criteria:

  • Ability to provide a 3‑year employment history for vetting.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an HPC site pass.
  • This is a site‑based role, with access via an approx. 45‑minute bus journey from Bridgwater and the surrounding areas.
