Salary: £78,000 to £82,000PA 

 

 

As the Senior Authorised Person (SAP), you'll be part of close-knit team who are very experienced and passionate about the work they do onsite at HPC. Be able to act as a control person for the onsite and offsite HV Networks, including liasion with national grid, HPA and HPB to facilitate planned and emergency work. You'll supervise our contractors on site and will coordinate day to day activities of tier 1 contractors to ensure they are completed to the client's requirements. You will prepare, approve and implement HV switching schedules and issue safety documents for planned and reactive work, provide technical support to design teams on HV and LV queries and help obtain competitive supplier quotations where necessary.

 

On occasion, you'll deputise for the Lead Operational Engineer at client and contractor meetings. Other responsibilities will include carrying out planned and reactive maintenance activities, fault investigations, repairs and modifying equipment and drawings to ensure the efficient operation of the substations.

What you'll do

  • Delivery of the Construction and Maintenance programs for the NNB owned assets operating at voltages through the range 400V to 11kV
  • As a team member work to ensure that Turnbull's ambitions are achieved especially in the areas of Staff and Client satisfaction.
  • Adherence to Client and Turnbull Operations and Procedures
  • Operation of HV and LV Distribution Protection Systems.
  • Testing and Commissioning of HV and LV Distribution System.
  • Maintenance of the Control and Protection Systems
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM and Turnbull and the clients Health and Safety policies
  • Developing site specific Health and safety and environment procedures
  • Compliance with Turnbull and the Clients quality policies
  • Operate and update Asset database in respect of project activities
  • Responsible for both reactive and planned maintenance activities
  • Carry out fault investigation and repairs as required.
  • Modifying equipment and drawings to ensure the efficient operation of the substations
  • Ensuring the compliance with the distribution safety rules during all activities.
  • Active supervision of all contractors/staff working on site
  • Undertake additional activities commensurate with the job level and competency

What you'll need

  • We're looking for a positive team player who has held a similar role but is now looking to develop their knowledge & experience further.
  • It's vital that you understand the engineering sector with experience in distribution systems through the range 400V to 11KV and ideally be educated to HNC level in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 11kV Senior Authorised Person as defined by the Distribution Safety Rules. 
  • We are open to industry experience, so if you have worked on nuclear sites, windfarms, solar panels or the electricity distribution network, then we're keen to hear from you.
  • With the ability to read drawings and understand content, you will have excellent analytical, organisation and planning skills with the ability to use Microsoft office suite, outlook MS project, as well as other bespoke software packages.
  • Due to the nature of the role, candidates will be required to hold a valid driving licence
