As an HR Officer, you will support all aspects of people management, with a particular focus on employee relations and recruitment. In this generalist role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting day-to-day HR operations while contributing to strategic HR initiatives. Working on-site, you will be an integral member of our HR team, ensuring a smooth and efficient HR function, fostering positive employee relations, and providing proactive, professional HR advice to the Wilson James team at Hinkley Point C.

Summary of Role: 


As an HR Officer, you will support the people management processes across Hinkley Point C (HPC), with a focus on Employee Relations and Recruitment. Your primary responsibility will be to deliver high-quality, consistent HR advice 

and support services to both employees and managers. You will proactively provide professional HR guidance to ensure that Wilson James meets its strategic goals while effectively managing and minimising risks. Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with key stakeholders, including HR colleagues, senior 

management, line managers, and employees will be paramount to your success in this role. 

 

Main Responsibilities: 

 

 

  • Provide timely and efficient advice on employment law and management practices for all employee-related activities. 
  • Manage employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence management and performance management. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as needed, escalating complex cases to the HR Manager
  • Coordinate with line managers to schedule meetings related to absence management, investigations, disciplinaries and return to work process. 
  • Prepare and distribute meeting invitations for employee relations meetings. 
  • Provide administrative support and coordination to the HR Manager for restructuring or right-sizing initiatives. 
  • Offer confidential and sensitive HR advice, guidance and coaching to line managers on employee relations and industrial relations issues, providing suggestions and remedies to prevent future breaches. 
  • Lead the application of HR policies and practices in line with the relevant labour agreements, providing expert HR advice on all people policies. 
  • Ensure employee relations activity is tracked accurately in line with the central ER tracking and reporting systems to ensure organisational visibility and accountability. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key external stakeholders, including legal representatives, trade unions and client IR personnel. 
  • Provide relevant and timely management information and analysis in relation to ER cases.
  • Regularly audit employee records to ensure accuracy, currency and compliance with governance and legal requirements. 
  • Consistently deliver high-quality and professional HR services to all customers. 
  • Treat all information as strictly confidential and only discuss matters with the relevant persons
  • Assist in coordinating recruitment activities between the site Employee Affairs Unit and Wilson James’ central HR team, including supporting with interviews and creating job descriptions where necessary. 
  • Deliver HR-related development workshops and information sessions for managers. 
  • Provide support for daily people processes and coordination of HPC functions
  • Perform any additional reasonable duties as required to support the business

Required Skills & Experiences: 

 

  • Demonstrated HR experience at a similar level, with a proven track record of managing employee relations matters 
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels, challenging when required
  • Excellent organisation skills with the ability to prioritise and manage conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a high-pressure and fast-paced environment, while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail 
  • Effective team player, with experience in coaching and supporting others, demonstrating flexibility to support overall team effectiveness 
  • Solid understanding of Human Resources practice and UK Employment Law.

 

 

Qualifications & Licenses:


Essential 


• Prior experience of working within a busy office environment and under pressure.
• Excellent IT skills with a working knowledge of all MS Office packages.
• Strong written and verbal communication
• CITB HS&E Operators certificate (must be obtained before start).

 

Desirable 


• CIPD qualified to Level 5, or willing to work towards the qualification.

• Ensure you have received the required training prior to commencing works
• Ensure that you are working in accordance with the safe system of works, as briefed by your Line Manager

  • Annual Leave: 25 days per year + Bank Holidays.
