Formwork Carpenter

KierBam have an exciting opportunity for blue carded Formwork Carpenters to come and join the KierBAM Joint venture working on the Hinkley Point C Project.


Kier and BAM Nuttall, with their specialist geotechnical division BAM Ritchies, are in a fully integrated joint venture to deliver the Earthworks, site preparation and infrastructure for the Hinkley Point C Project.


This role is to support the KierBAM in ensuring the safe preparation, installation and formation of framework to the correct Nuclear quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • To provide support at the early stages of a construction project with the formation of framework
  • To cut and assemble boards, timbers or plywood to the required sizes to build wooden forms
  • Preparation for concrete pours
  • Working with blueprints and using precise measurements in the formation of framework
  • Responsible for erecting/building scaffolding and ladders needed to assemble structures
  • Read and understand the job's plans/drawings and schedules.
  • Be able to set out work from these instructions


Qualifications:

 

  • CSCS Skilled Worker Card (BLUE)
  • NVQ Level 2 in Formwork


Key Skills:

 

  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Proficient in using hand and power tool
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a construction environment
  • Proven ability to understand and execute written & verbal instructions
  • Competent at performing routine manual labour tasks
  • Ability to lift and handle heavy objects


Other considerations :

 

  • Working at heights training (Scissor lift/IPAF/Harness training)
  • Abrasive Wheels
  • Understanding of/interpretation of drawings both paper and 3D model
  • Desirable - A level 3 qualification in formwork (Level 3 competent in the construction of complex structures such as stairs, landings, ramps, inclined stuctures, curved or circular structures
